Great! I liked Appalachicola ! Great city dock.could use some real restrooms/showers.. Neat town.
Looks like ya have to drive through a little weather coming west, but the north winds should make for nice sailing since there will be little fetch forthe waves to build.

I have lived in TX twice. The first time in 1975 was working on an offshore seismic crew, motoring up and down the ICW and both sides of Padre Island, and offshore even down to Brownsville. Most recently I lived in Sugar Land in 1997-99. I'm now thinking of moving from the Northeast to either FL or TX, and sailing. I'd like to hear more about the advantages/disadvantages of basing in TX or FL. For example, the feasibility of navigating down the western Gulf to Belize, Mexico, Colombia etc I plan to liveaboard eventually.

I just recently joined a great group of folks called the Texas Mariners Cruising Association (TMCA). They are one of the largest non profit sailing clubs in the US and meet once per month in addition to all the outings they sponsor. They sail to places like Smith Point, Redfish Island, Double Bayou, Galveston, and more. With over 500 members, there's always someone going out every weekend. If you would be interested in learning more, the site is http://tmca.nu.
