HCOA website fluke! Bummer.

Well, it appears that the HC33 in Kemah listed on the HCOA website is NOT for sale. Apparently a glitch caused old classifieds from 2006 to appear one night and that was the night I happened to be searching the for sale area. I guess I have more time to plan and prepare so I can be ready to pounce on another great boat opportunity when my lease is close to done.

Dream. Plan. Plan Dream. I kind of miss my Catalina. Not meant to be right now I guess. The weather is significantly cooler this weeke… Continue

My DREAM boat for sale....20 min up the road?!?!?

Well, it's sink or swim time.....a model of my DREAM boat has just listed on the HCOA website locally up the road in Kemah. There's no excuse not to somehow make my dream become a reality. I wouldn't need to pay shipping/freight costs, and I could move right in. Too bad my apartment contract isn't up until May....ughh.

Approximately 150 Hans Christian 33's were built starting in 1980 and the original production run ended in 1988. This model has just recently been resurrected for a low low price… Continue

Busy 2009 sailing season planned!

So my sailing club, Texas Mariner's Cruising Association ( http://tmca.nu) held their annual planning meeting yesterday. It was quite a different experience planning an entire year's worth of weekends versus the short 6 month season in the north. Being that it is the "off" season down south where the weather is much cooler, but not freezing, I can understand why people will go out every chance they get.

Normally, being a hard core sailor, I'm always down with that, but a short 6 month season is… Continue

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Now that 2008 is over, take a moment to reflect back on your accomplishments (or lack thereof) for the year. Did you sail as much as you wanted to? Did you finish that labor intensive boat project? Did you find time to take that cruise you planned?
I'm personally glad 2008 is over.… Continue

Hey Tim,

Good to hear from you as a fellow Pelagian. We'll keep in touch and meet up in Houston as my brother lives there. In the meantime have a great Christmas.

c2csailor, Thanks for the props on my C27, she is a 1987 and except for some minor electric issues, she is great. This is my first real boat. I've been sailing for years, but mostly small boats (sunfish, laser, hobie) and windsurfers. I would love to move up to a 30 to 35 footer some day (soon!!). Thanks for the heads up on the yahoo group, I'll check it out!! Tom

Hi Tim,

Unfortunately my husband and I are only weekend sailors. My husband owns his business and I am a nurse so have weird hours and work some holidays.

However, will try to set up something in the next couple of weeks and let you know - you can come meet the rest of the group, I think you have been commenting back and forth with Odis who is our very best friend and has a ton of experience....We love sailing with Odis

The boat had no damage. We are in Waterford a very good hurricane hole.
I see you did some sailing in Rockport Maine. I was there on a 62' Beneteau from June to October 2006. It was a great place to have as a home base for sailing around Maine. I am currently anchored at Redfish Is. Had a beautiful night of anchoring out.

Hi, we now have several friends on this site that sail together from Watergate & Waterford. Odis and I are going to start a Galveston Bay & Texas Coastal Sailors Group. I see you started Gulf Coast Sailing - that'll be good because it can include over to Florida. Maybe we can get some crewing trips together.

To be honest we haven't been in the pool ourselves. One of the Mom's that was there told us about and said her kids loved it. Not sure how they do it but with the way sound travels underwater it shouldn't take too much.

Its hard to believe that my big tubby boat could tip over easily. The only two variables in determining capsize values are displacement and beam. I would think that keel size, shape, and ballast would be factors also.
