Wow Phil,
You argue a very strong case here :) Tons of really nice anchorages sounds lovely and decent marinas always a plus! Funny, I have a friend from NH who winters in there near St. Pete and he used the "skinny water" description as well. So no…
I would strongly recommend the west coast of Fla. over the other side. Lots of very good sailing, year round on both sides, but the west coast is much more laid back, much more boater friendly, and much less expensive. Hasn't yet become taken over b…
west coast of florida is awesome--appalachicola is quaint and has the best oysters in heaven!!! goood shrimps too--can be found for 3 dolla / pound from th eshrimpres in their basin!! water street marina is nice and friendly--is a hotel also--beware…
Robin: If you like warm water and warm weather most of the year with relative moderate seas with plenty of gunkholeing available then I think you would like the westcoast of florida. I have been sailing that area for over 40yrs. and some of the east…
Truly wonderful photos, I am a sunset picture passionater myself :) There are those whose dream is to sail the east coast to all the lovely islands in the Carribean, and yet mine is to sail to Mexico in the very Gulf you depict so beautifully here.…
I know Gulfport from driving through it once not that long ago when looking at a boat at the marina in St. Pete. I also had a friend from Winthrop Yacht Club who did his snowbird winters there, although last year he decided to teach skiing in NH. Wh…
Well for me it was the least in 20 years so i guess its not a bad average. So if your motivated to change what do oyu chage to that hass all the benefits of being out on the water? Do you have your own boat?
sailiing i New england this year, hmmm kind of a wash out, Cold and rain in june, rain in july, still a few good days, August was nice but due to other commitments, no time. Oh well there will be other summers. The boat is till there for future years. my boat is being pulled this week so the summer is officially over. How about you get much sailing in?
Yes Robin, it is quite the ship. I had seen her before in Baltimore harbor about 10 years ago. I also have a model of it in my sailboat in my display area port side. I was impressed with the like new condition they keep it in...the brightwork is outstanding...not a nook or cranny that is not manicured .
Hey thanks for the Mothers day wish and Monets photo. Both kitties are finally recovering from some powder i put on the mattress..and carpet.that had poison in it. They finally are getting back to normal .
Have you looked at more boats? Sailing?
Hey Robin,
Hope that you had a great Holiday and that all is well with you. Things here are just fine. We are looking forward to a good year with lots of time on the water. Take care, keep your toes warm!
I love the picture of the ketch (schooner?) in the sunset - it's what most of us are doing this sailing thing for, I think. The skipper's not bad either! :)
