LOLA... How about changing the groups photo from a Seagull to something more feminine. Like a female buccaneer!

Hi All! Just checking in. I haven't been online in a while.

When we bought our boat we had a City Water hook up added to it really for convenience and so we didn't have to run the pumps while at the dock. After reading the posts below, it seems like there are added benefits to that that are much more important! Wow! Thanks so much for sharing that Suky...and Lola for the added info...you guys are great!

It is great to catch up. I love to read all the new entries. Right now I am in Horta finally resting on land after 18 days at sea from Bermuda to the Azores. At first I was a bit worried about getting enough exercise on the boat during the crossing but on the 5th day our auto pilot broke and the hydrolic fluid leaked out. I can say that the hand steering certainly kept me in shape! Who would have thought it would break - it's practically brand new! We found a temporary fix for it for when the wind was light and the waves were small...we used olive oil! As it kept leaking out we had to keep refilling it. Thank goodness we bought a huge vat of it in the DR. It was pretty exciting - when there was wind. Of course we had some days with no wind at all though. (Thank goodness-it gave me time to heal). Hopefully they can fix it tomorrow.

I have to run to go pick up the parts at the office now.

Yes Robin, it is quite the ship. I had seen her before in Baltimore harbor about 10 years ago. I also have a model of it in my sailboat in my display area port side. I was impressed with the like new condition they keep it in...the brightwork is outstanding...not a nook or cranny that is not manicured .

Hi Lola,
What a coincidence, I was online reading up on the Pride of Baltimore yesterday, glad you had the pleasure of touring such a beauty. I was out sailing today, great perfect sailing day!! I bought a folding bike from West Marine and that is my second favorite, both keep me smiling and get me out in the sun and wind.

Best,
Robin

Very good suggestions, I personally know a boat that was sunk (completely sunk) because of a faulty regulator on his shore water. The regulator quit and then the water pressure blew the hose off one of his hose connection.
I was thinking that an inline is better than the flush mount because it would be easier to inspect and change out.

Plumbing tip found at DIY Marine
Pressure Guard
Since most marinas have city water pressure that exceeds 35 psi, if you leave your boat connected to dockside “city” water, protect your boat’s potable water system components by installing a water-pressure regulator on the water hose end or water inlet. This reduces water pressure down to 35 psi.
Never leave your boat unattended with the dockside pressure water feed on. There are lots of boat floodings on the books because of the failure of hose, a connection, etc. within the potable water system onboard that went unnoticed as the pressurized water from the dockside hookup flowed into the boat undetected.

melissa renee and sailorgalca--i am so busy fixing my boat for leak prevention for my eastt coast sail that i amnot much into talking-----but i have r and r'd my engine--made a 4-107 become a 4-108 with only one helper, in a leaky teaky--now i have the leak problem to address----pump switches to install for automaticity and placement of my dinghies on my deck for departure to another area of this country by air to sail a seidelman 37 for a few months....most designated spaces for females on board are mostly fluff, i know-i see that and i amnot into fluff.......there i agree with you----but , as this is merely a new forum, not more than a yea rold, i give it some chance..if all the females who are smarts leave here then what is left--just fluff----so, please stay and wait and see if changes happen??
