Profile Information

Profile Type:
Sailor
Homeport:
san diego mission bay for now
About Me:
update- sold my cal jan 2010 moved to vista to be a homeowner. 18 mo without a boat and i couldn't stand it. i just bought a lancer 25ft and can sail again!! ps walk in closets are over rated
am a traveling nurse, i work close to home for now. i live on my cal 34 in redondo beach. the best thing about living on my boat is i can untie it and go out whenever i am in the mood. i don't have to plan and pack up, everything i'll need is on the boat already! i work 3 days/week 12 hr days so last week when i had 4 off in a row i took off and went over to catalina for 2 days by myself. its always an adventure, its very rare that i have left my slip and nothing has gone wrong while i'm out, usually an engine problem, a torn sail, a headsail that i can't drop in too much wind, a windlass that wont work when the anchor has been dropped already, etc. etc. i get an adrenaline rush from getting out of a problem situation. most would call my experiences disasters but i call them adventures!
Current location:
home in redondo beach,ca
Destinations visited:
i often go to marina del rey, cabrillo, catalina, san diego, newport beach, dana point, i have stayed in all of the harbors from mdr to san diego overnight a few times. its always the most exciting pulling in to a new harbor and looking for your gust slip in a marina your not familiar with, {in the dark is even more of a thrill, one i try to avoid now} last oct i went to mexico, my 27 yr old son joined me for 11 days and that story is a whole other book we lost power, tore both sails, only a solar panel to charge batteries, very little sun, lots of rain and a hard time heading north
Looking to:
someday, somehow take off and sail away! i guess i might need to find a partner, i probably need a better equipped boat, enough money to survive,....actually all that i do have in preparation for my dream is spirit!

Why are hubcaps less common on modern vehicles?

Hubcaps, which are attached directly to the wheel and rim assembly, are less frequently seen on modern vehicles.
