Rhapsody in Blue Rescues overturned dinghy

Sunday, May 22, Great Guana Cay, Bahamas:  Borrowed dingy plays key role in daring rescue. 

Just three days into an island-hopping vacation in the Bahamas, the crew of the Rhapsody in Blue was launched into an unexpected adventure that could only have been attempted using the dingy borrowed from North Carolina residents Steve and Janet Clayton.

Challenging Sail.

1.Today was the start of a few days down in the keys. The forecast wasn't the best with 40% chance of thunderstorms. I launched out at 6am from the slip with of course a cup of Joe in hand. It was a motor-sail the first 3 hours with winds 1-3 knots. There were thunderstorms all around and I had to thread a needle through them. At 7 am the boat got a washing. I'm planning on being in RI all weekend wx permitting. Do u ever get a layover out of Providence RI (TF Green)???? Like 10 mins from my boat... can sail if you'd like. I haven't had a good run of sailing.. yet.. getting antsy :-(

Too funny! I just was typing a post to u on FB. Going tomorrow to sail. Was going to drive down tonite after 8pm.. but need to rest my back..chiro done me in today, need my own bed. You need to sail! I'm going to boston in october...accepted to the yc i wanted. Have contract till nov. 1 in ri..but will eat last month or plead :-)

Hope you get to go sailing or at least party time at raft up. doing the sail/rib eye thing on saturday & sailing with crew on sunday. Monday still up in the air, may stay over on Twizzled. Need to get below in some sort of order so i can sleep in my berth..lol Did the ole... hurry up fling it in there...we're going sailing a few times... time to organize

"Well at least you’ve narrowed it down to the Genoa. I doubt here’s any issue with the hull or running gear. Nor do I think the slight list you have will have an impact either as many boats have the same based on how full the water and or…"

"In the meanwhile, I performed some sailing tests trying to be as impartial as possible. I was sailing close hauled on the starboard and port side. I used the autopilot steering the boat at 37 degrees to the apparent wind. Apparent wind was 12 to 19…"

"I’d also do a test using only the main. The more testing you do the more likely you’ll find the problem. I’d also check to see how much the leeward shrouds sag during all the tests. Let us know what you find. Good luck Mike"
