1985 Catalina 25 aka Fat Cat is for sale - she's been a pleasure to sail on these past 5 years - and we've been away on 30 day trips - despite her being categorized as a "day sailor" - she's good and roomy.

For details - you can check out all you need to know at Affordable Yachting (can be viewed in both English AND French) - the ad number you'll type out in the "Search All Ads" area is #2622.

Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and take what you can get. Ideally you'll get enough to get your other boat - and you!! - sailing away. But even if it's just getting rid of the ongoing costs of slip fees etc., sometimes that's best. The extra boat is costing you money even if you're not writing checks for it.

As an example, my 'new' boat - the original owner tried to sell it for top dollar, then reduced price as the market dropped, but never got ahead of the market. Finally it was too late and I got a sweet deal. Had the owner dropped the price by 1/2 two years ago, she would have received a lot more than she ended up with.

According to something I read, sailboat prices have not softened as much as power boats because sailors tend to be more fiscally conservative, so fewer of them are upside down on their boat loans. But there are a lot of boats out there.

That's partly why I decided to spend some time fixing up my 'old' boat and get it back in the water to sell it, rather than cut it up for parts! I'll lose about 1/2 of what I put into it, but I'll chalk that up to learning. I probably won't get back what it's costing me to fix it. But when I'm done I'll be up to speed with fiberglass repairs and a lot of other 'boat stuff'. And by then, maybe prices will have stabilized a bit. But regardless, it's worth the loss to get it out of my hair - if someone else can enjoy it all the better.

those good buys on ebay for boats mean mine willnot sell for any money at all.....big problem for sellers in a buyers market......
