Hi all

I’ve decided that the time has come to replace the main on My 2010 French built 43. Original main is Elstrom sail and has stood up well, don’t know cloth used, still has good shape but put a couple of tears in main during double handed cross channel race and the stitching is starting to go.

replaced genoa 3 year ago.

What I looking for is experience of or advice on having the mainsail fully batoned. Mostly do cruising and some club racing but want to ensure longevity

any advice or experience please

I need to purchase the sump control box for the forward head on my B43. The pump will not turn on automatically anymore, just when I throw the switch. Any ideas?

DOLPHIN BATTERY CHARGER - 40 AMP

Hi all,

The Dolphin charger on my 2010 43 is still charging perfectly well EXCEPT the cooling fan is cycling on and off every 20 seconds.. There is a light on the centre top of the unit flashing red, does not look happy. Sadly I cannot locate the instruction manual which, knowing Beneteau undoubtedly came with the boat.

Any help or clues, it seems as if the thermostat controlling the fan is out of order as the unit itself is not hot, not even warm.

Regards,

Bilgolabands (Liberte)

Thanks for all your comments my friends at Seaknots.

The halyard has been rerun without passing through the small stainless steel eye, as seen easily in the pic provided by Chris on 17th August.

All furling now takes place without any undue effort, only unfortunate thing is we had to pay the rigger to run the halyard correctly.

Over the sheave inside the mast then out through the mast about 6 feet from the mast base.

Ste spinnaker halyard should be put back through the mast. Over the sheave inside the mast then out through the base.

I had a profurl furler. If you have the same there has to be a "Twist Stop" attached to the forestay near the top above the upper bearing.  It stops the furled sail halyard from twisting around the sail at the top.  It is about 4 in diameter, looks like a flying saucer with half of the outer edge cut out. Sounds like the rigger may have left it off.  Also if the jib halyard is to tight hte upper bearing will be "tilted" and may be the problem when furling the sail.  Hope this helps.https://jimmygreen.com/9205-thickbox_default/profurl-cruising-manual-reefing-system.jpg

Robert, we added the halyard after we purchased the boat primarily as a way to reach the mast top. When I asked to have it run directly to the top and not through the eye the service manager refused to do so. Apparently there was a concern that leading directly from the top of the mast would create excess pressure on the rigging. I hope this helps.

Hello all,

Our 2010 Oceanis 43 recently underwent a 10 year rigging replacement. The boat was returned with the spinnaker halyard led through the stainless choker attached to the top of the torestay hounds fitting; we feel as a result of that the headsail furler has been very troublesome. and heavy to operate. Last weekend we ended up with a halyard wrap that stopped everything.

The rigger feels that is the correct running of that halyard though to the best of our knowledge it formally ran directly from the mast top sheave clearing the top furler swivel.  Any wise owners out there who can provide the correct information?.
