I'm interested mainly in short-term or local crewing in the New England area - I live about 1/2 between Newport and Boston. I've worked offshore (seismic crew out of ports in TX) and done some, not a lot, of sailing. My own Columbia 33 is almost certainly not going to get wet this year. I'm interested in all aspects - racing and cruising. I've pretty easy to get along with, and don't need or expect pay, just experience and miles. I'm also a fair cook.

personality and slander have no placew in public forums...sailing supercedes personality.....slamming gets nothing done but show the insecurity of the slanderer/slammer......i went out and DID what i enjoy doing---SAILING---i have sailed with tallshipmen from my early childhood years---i will continue to sail any chance i can get----but i will back up my plans with a goood safety net in the future.....is only MY business and the business of those who aided in my return to my home that which i do int he future or the present...those who aided me know who they are and are most incredibly apppreciated. there have been slams as to my character--not accurate and full of bs---legally correctible bs---which should be contained and ceased before i need to take legal action as to slander and libel actions......it is inj the4 best interests of the slanderers to cease and desist at the immediate moment --not after i have taken action.
there is no story nor is there any other sensationalism to be learned from my adventure.....i choose to live my life not waste it at a dock waiting for the unknown to come by and die while telling falsehoods of others.......choose your lifestyle with your own interests in your heart and mind. words go along with the lifestyle.......

suky--just be careful to interbview in poerson and find out what kind of skippper you are sailing with---is he or she able to appreciate youyr ability to anticipate his/her calls thus preventing yelling and screaming or is there a slight insecurity issue unknown to anyone else?
are ther efinancial requirements surprisedly popped onto your shoulders not anticipate3d by you?
do you have to pay for provisions and traverses of canals......all things to think about....and do not forget to figger what you would feel like if you suddenly could not get along with the person in the middle of an ocean......or if the person turned out to be jack or jill the ripper......my only wrong was rto run out of money at the wrong time---and to be able to anticipate the skipper well enough to not allow him to yell or holler or scream......i do know how to sail and trim .....among other boat sail things---i was taught right --including how to anticipate the skipper's needs and what is good or not goood for the boat and the crew......

Hi all * & Happy New Year. I'm hoping to find a paid position crewing beginning mid-February. Right now I'm just about finished downsizing and getting my home ready for a year round tenant. Hallelejah ~!*~*!
Reading these posts it seems there are other forums where crew are posting & I was wondering where they were.
I've spoken to a number of Captains in far flung places and am very hesitant without checkable references.

bella---1--i didnt blow the person off--i was in san diego at the time and the offer was moot at that time.
2. i was at a yacht club and no one was going anywhere near san juan or anywhere else out of that particular bay--i was in contact with the only one from tha tyacht club who went anywhere and he was one of the people who helped co ordinate the effort from the other forums
3..man refers to "current gf" as EX.....
4.i didnt request an off the boat emergency rescue at sea for no reason.
5.if one doesnt live the moment one misses out on much more than just being rescued from a small urgent situation....
6.there is no consulate in us territorial waters....usvi is us waters.
7.uscg rescue and consular rescues come out of the purse of the skipper of the boat from which the rescue is effected.
8.where i was left for home was in a spot wherefrom the ferry was less than lunch and the man bought me lunch before i left..he is a gentleman--just wasnt going to go back to wherefrom he said he would return me.....
i have verbalized my appreciation to the other forums in writing and the powers that be and the general membership have read my words. if they are not being believed is not my fault..i write what is happening and objectively---pretty much--i donot play games...hard for some to understand......
i WAS seeking a position on another boat before i was assisted out of the caribean---there were none at the time i needed to find a position. had i gone to jost van dyke to the foxys party, i would probably have found a position or berth in a different boat an dnot needed rescue--but i was poanned for that idea by unknowledgeable persons on the other forum. the purpose of going to get togethers of all the cruisers is to find positions on boats and to mingle with those of the same ilk as you are....or i SHOULD say as i am......many folks who donot sail extensively have tendencies to try to guess what really happened---we have all done that.
i have no quarrel with the sailor in question--he is not a captain---he is a skipper----he is also a gentleman----i was able to get back to wherefrom the transportation wasnt going to kill me financially or physically....
there are always at least 2 sides to all stories---more like the 11 extra stories made from speculation----as for appreciation, maybe one complaining of my lack thereof should go back to the forum in question and read for herself the post in question.
