Winter Blues

Winter in Pensacola, we've had some really cold, wet weather this winter. Not very good for sailing, and our channel is due to be dreged in January/February. It's a good thing since I can't get out in the bay during the winter low tides. But the dock time has been good for doing maintenance jobs that need to be done. I replaced the accumulator for the fresh water system, changed the oil in the engine, pulled up all the floor boards and cleaned out the bilges. We also removed the old mainsail… Continue

Ready, Set, Go

The time is rapidly approaching. Sharon and I have been preparing to bring our boat home from the BVI. "Great Adventure" has been in charter service and is about to complete the Moorings phase out service. We plan to sail her from Tortola to St Thomas the first day and spend a couple of days there outfitting and picking up supplies. Then the plan, weather permitting is to sail to the Caymen Islands and stop there for a day of re-supply and weather updating. If the weather looks right for a Gulf… Continue

Bob, what a beautiful boat, and some beautiful sailing grounds where you live. I hope to visit there again someday. Best of luck...Milt

Hey there, welcome to SeaKnots!

What a great plan to look forward to. Is your boat still in the BVIs of did you bring it back? I always wondered if the deals in BVI were too good to be true. How did it work out for you? Are you happy with how it went?

"I had to replace my sheeve on both sides and really struggled to get the bolts out. Once I had them out, each was bent thus the challenge. I ended up stripping one or two of the hex bolts and used an angle grinder to square off the head of the bolt…"

B43 Traveller

The starboard side of my Traveller is starting to lift up. I am guessing to remove the center 5mm Allen bolt that goes through the middle of the sheeves, although I cannot get it to budge, to access it. Does anyone have any experience with this??Thanks Dave B43 Shore's AdriftSee More
