The time is rapidly approaching. Sharon and I have been preparing to bring our boat home from the BVI. "Great Adventure" has been in charter service and is about to complete the Moorings phase out service. We plan to sail her from Tortola to St Thomas the first day and spend a couple of days there outfitting and picking up supplies. Then the plan, weather permitting is to sail to the Caymen Islands and stop there for a day of re-supply and weather updating. If the weather looks right for a Gulf of Mexico crossing we will go, if not, we will take her to Isla Mujeres, Mx and continue waiting for a wx window. We are excited.

Ahoy Bob and Sharon,
Rob Sherrill and I are leaving Galveston on April 17th for Isla Mujeres. We estimate that we should arrive April 23-25. Then plan to depart for Galveston May 15. We dock in El Milagro when we go to Isla. Keep in touch, as our paths may cross.....have a great safe adventure...Jay

I'd be very interested to know how the economics were with the Moorings. Have often thought of buying a boat with them, but almost seems too good to be true. How did it all work out for you?

Have a great sail to the Caymans. Haven't been there for 20 years, but I remember having a wonderful time. Nice people on the beach.

LOL, on my wife or the boat??? Actually, the Moorings has a pretty good maintenance program and the phase out process is quite involved. Sure, the boat has the expected 'wear and tear' from her years of charter service, however, nothing that TLC won't fix. I spent two days with a surveyor from WestIndiesMarine in Tortola doing a very thorough examination of the entire boat, rigging, systems, propulsion, etc. Most of this was done out of the water. We did take her out for about an hour test sail as well. We identified a number of areas that needed attention, but none were deal breakers, some issues were addressed then and there while the boat was out of the water, i.e. the rudder bearing showed excessive play and needed replacement. I feel and the surveyor felt as well that the boat is very sound, and will be a great boat for us.
