Winter in Pensacola, we've had some really cold, wet weather this winter. Not very good for sailing, and our channel is due to be dreged in January/February. It's a good thing since I can't get out in the bay during the winter low tides. But the dock time has been good for doing maintenance jobs that need to be done. I replaced the accumulator for the fresh water system, changed the oil in the engine, pulled up all the floor boards and cleaned out the bilges. We also removed the old mainsail cover and ordered a new one. It should be done about the middle of February. Until then, our mainsail is folded neatly in the garage. It doesn't matter what I am doing on the boat, it is my happy place, I am lost to the rest of the world when I am there.

"Auto ascending setup is an interesting idea, though it takes a bit of fiddling around to get it right. Once it's dialed in, it actually works quite well."

"Michael, From experience over three keel boats a fully battened main is almost a requirement. Not only will it make dropping the sail into the boom bag far easier it certainly reduces any flogging and vastly lengthens the life of the sail. While…"
