John,
It depends. What model O'Day are we speaking about? Who put the rails on in the first place? Are there white caps about 3/4 of an inch on the cabin overhead under where the handrails are? If yes, the rails are through bolted and under the caps are the nuts for the bolts. You will need to remove the bungs on the rails to get to the heads of the bolts. The rails may only be attached with screws, that I don't recommend, you will need to remove the bungs to get to the heads of the screws. I hope this is helpful.

Has anyone ever removed your handrails for resealing? I have a leak and I'm not sure if I need to remove them from the topside or from below in the salon.
rOnDAYvous, anyone?
It's time to start thinking about the annual O'day owners' rOnDAYvous, which will be held this year from July 17-19 at Mystic Seaport Museum marina. You won't want to miss out on this very special event, now in its 13th year. For more information, or to get on the exclusive mailing list for newsletters and other updates, email me or send me a PM on this site. Hope to see you there!
Ron, Welcome to the group. You will enjoy sailing. Now is the time to be sailing not rehabbing or updating. We leave a clipboard in the cabin and all season long we make notes of things that need to be changed or fixed so when I pull her out of the water the second week of October I know what my marching orders are for the next season. That gives me around 6 or 7 months to get her ready. Sometimes during the season I will pick away at things I can take care of while she is sitting on her mooring. This helps reduce the list of winter work.
Have a great time and if you have questions without answers, this would be one of the places to try to get the answer. Jim
Hi all, just joined this group. Just joined SeaKnots too! I own a 240 O'Day 1988 that I sail here in Fox Lake Illinois and am currently rehabbing her/updating her. Christened her last saturday - Crimson Tide.

Tyson, went to Sailboat Data.com, but could not find a sprite 19, they did buy and manufacture the rhoads 19 wl finn keel & cb. Post a pic and maybe we can figure this out. Sailboat data will give the rigg dimensions. Michael..
Hi,
Bought a '72 O'Day sprite for my kids and I need the sail rigging plan. Anyone have any idea where I could get this info? I've searched online and haven't found much available.
Thanks!
I'm still here, but no longer own an O'Day.
still around
