How many of you received the following email?:

Derek McCrea's Monthly Art Newsletter.

"Friends,
I have been busy creating for the last several months.
View more of my works at http://www.derekmccrea.50megs.com..."

I'd guess at least 168 of you did, because that is how many 'friends' Derek has listed now. Admittedly, the man does nice work, but is obviously using his membership here to advertise his work and promote his own website. After receiving his first advertisement, I reported him to Can Drac. After receiving this most recent one, I removed him from my friends list and blocked any further messages from him. There are plenty of opportunities for an artist to promote their work on this site and do it in a polite and friendly fashion, but this member obviously has no interest in this site or it's members other than to glean more names for his mailing list. That's not very polite.

Derek McCrea has some nice water color art, some with a nautical theme, but it appears he joined the site not to discuss sailing but to find another outlet to market his work. I courteously accepted his friend request only to receive an announcement from him of his 40% off sale. All spammers should kiss the gunners daughter!
