- Completed 1800 miles in the Caribbean in January - February 2010. Started in Antigua and and visited 13 islands over the month. Sailed as far south as Trinidad and then up to Tortola. Quick sail in San Diego bay in March 2011. In June 2011 sailed from Fuengirola in southern Spain up to Alicante on the east coast. In October 2011 sailed from Epidavros in Greece through the Corinth Canal island hopping along the way to Gouvia Marina in Corfu. In 2013 sailed the Med from Vilamoura Portugal to Gibraltar Spain.. then on to Barcelona Spain, From Barcelona to Toulon France .. then on to La Spezia Italy. Great trip.

- Sail in as many parts of the world as I can. Move my boat to warmer climes. In the interim, I will continue to travel and sail whenever possible

Force 6 quickly became Force 8 with higher gusts. We left Trizonia by 7.30am. All boats headed out together and went under the bridge in a line. After that ..the boats spead out and visibility quickly deteriorated. The wind rose to a strong Force 8 ..following ..so we were surfing down the waves with the rain whipping our backs as we went .. but what a ride! We needed the GPS to find the entrance channel to Messalongi ...2 boats experienced difficulties ..one engine failure and one sail…

Lovely sunshine as we pulled up anchor in Galaxidi to head for Trizonia Island. Galaxidi was a favourite with all the crews and before we left we visited the local maritime museum. It gave a wonderful overview of the history of the area ...it was a ship- building town for many years ...if you are cruising in the locality ..its well worth a visit. Thanks Kate..not quite sure what to make of this site. I love the water and boating...recently ended a relationship where my partner did not like boats...just golf. Now its my turn to turn to my love of life. Is this a social site?

Thanks for the nice comment! My long dreamt of plans to retire, buy a boat and set off on a cruising life are on hold until some real estate sells. So, what I've just done is rented a home (with dock!) on Lake Lanier near Atlanta, Georgia where I work. It's a fairly large lake, about 100 square miles, but, of course, not the same as being at sea. I'm in the market looking for a 20 footer so I can have some fun this summer. Please let me know if you come this way.

Other than the Azores, the only marina we have visited in Portugal is Lagos and it was great. It's big, close to town and with all the boat services you can ask for!

Truly, your last statement is a wise one. I gave up trying to convince friends to become sailors. Rather, I leave an open invitation. You are right, it is much easier to make friends with sailors. Enjoy your adventures. Our ships just might pass one night, , , my big voyages will start in June 2012 with mini trips between now and then around the east coast of Florida.
