i decided to come in to cabrillo marina instead of redondo and it was fine my sail repair held up well. i got in here at 330 left avalon at 930. still dont haveengine running maybe tomorrow thanks for your help---btw the sail that tore was bought last year from kellys used sails. i'm just low on funds now cant buy things for the boat. good luck on your repairs maybe we can meet some day.
steve and co came by to see how things were going and i was working on my sail---i hope it works this time it seems like i should withstand a hurricane with tape and glue and contact cement. no engine i guess i'll figure that out when i get home. i'm in no hurry so worst case sinerio i sail on jib only which is fine unless i'm in shipping lanes and there is a freighter....what are the chances. please tell kenneth hi,i often wonder how he is, he got a new boat last i saw him.
darn, there go my hopes for getting my numberr on some scuzzy bathroom wall-guess i'll go to plan b lol....i'm at the laundry mat in avalon feeling like real tourist. i'm really enjoying just gettin away. i think i'll be ok i'm gonna ask vessel assist for a jump tomorrow and see if that fixes my engine problem. i put some good glue on the sail tear and will break down and get out needle and sail thread tomorrow and do a sew job over the glue job-that should work and then maybe head home on thursday. btw-have you heard of a guy named kenneth in san diego-i met him 2 yrs ago when i was going to mexico and i was anchored in mission bay. he helped me with some stuff on the boat and actually sailed to ensenada with my son and i. we lost touch and i wonder how hes doing?
well i left redondo with light winds fri at noon about 8 miles and the wind picked up a bit and my recent main sail repair came out so i need to fix it again....then i was dumb and let the gas in my engine get too low so it sucked up some crap and wont start..i hope i'll just need to clean the fuel filter. i'm hoping that i will still have some battery power left to start it if i get it cleaned out. anyway at 6pm i was 12 miles from avalon and going backwards at 1/2 knot so i decided to use my vessel assist that will expire in june and i havent used yet so hey thats why i have it. was in avalon by 930pm vs probably 930am using only my jib. my sister came out on the express boat sat and just left to home so when it dries up i'll try to fix engine but might be handy to have a name of someone local in case i might need to borrow cables-i have another battery thats not hooked up but has a full charge. thanks so much zeehag

Zeehag; My wife and I just returned from 4 weeks in Puerto Vallarita,
Mexico where I got to sail two days and meet some of the prople who have done the Baha Haha. If I were on the left coast, I would sure like to make that run... The weather in PVR was just fantastid for sailing or anything else.. shorts and T shirt weather all the way.. What a great way to spend the winter.. When we had to leave, some of the cruisers were making plans to do the Puddle Jump, on across the Pacific,, One of the crew I met planned to be back in Ca. in four years...Oh well Dream the Dream.....gary
I wish I owned a Formosa. I have a Hutchins com-pac 16 at the present. I have had all told I think 14 boats since I started sailing in 1970. Going from 9' to 26 ' Including mono's and cats. My next one if I can find it will be around 40' and steel hull ketch. I just keep watching .

coronado and catalina got their starts from hank mc kune being friends with the originators of each of the two marques----hank let them use victory molds and champion molds for their beginnings.....go figger---and the coronado 30 and 34 were from olympian 34 mold---hank did that for the friends he had in boat building.....i was trying to write a book about him ---i am not certain he is still among the living--he was 78 in 1990 and had just undergone 4 bypass grafts for heart.....my deck had not been laid up as yet when that occurred.....book got put on back burner and hank moved to oregon......-
