If it isn't one tack, it's another. . .

Boy, my mood has been changing like I'm racing on a light air, shifty course. First I am ecstatic with our ladies' team's performance this past Saturday. The first time on a different boat and we did awesome. Finally, after many, many days on the water, they are efficient with their jobs. It was great feeling to hear all the kudos from fellow sailors.

Second, I am depressed and crying again because when I crawl into bed there is no one to wake up and tell about my adventure. Remember,…

President's Day Sailing....YEAH!

Wind on the intercoastal yesterday was AWESOME!!!

Making speed up to 6 knots in the Owl, a great sail was had by all.  Wind shifted in the afternoon, and we sailed north back to the marina at exhilerating speed!!  It was one of those days that make you glad to be alive...no problems, just wind and sails and friends and later, adult beverages.  Can't forget those!  It was a spectacular day.

Saw lots of dolphins, diving ducks, along with a few pelicans.  It is…

Playing on the water.....

Remember when you were a little kid and there was something so intriguing it dared you to break house rules to keep going?  And when mom said “no”, that lack of permission made you want it even more.  Then despite numerous pleadings of “oh mom, just one more time!”, your whining got you nothing.

My attempts to barter with Mother Nature over the past few months for good sailing weather, just like when I tried to persuade mom to let me stay outside and play in the dead of…

How I got a new pair of WM boat shoes for less than $10

I took the day off yesterday to attend a concert in Houston that got cancelled so I decided to spend the day in my favorite hangout spot- Kemah, TX.  The weather was sunny and the temperature climbed into the 60’s by lunch.  I had been considering shopping for a new pair of boat shoes now that the 2011 sailing season is underway.  My current pair have seen better days, and I thought early spring might be the best time to upgrade to something I could actually be seen in a public…

Land Adventures while traveling in the BEST SAILING STATE in the US!

I am traveling this week for work via land vehicle (i.e. automobile) to down near Miami.  No big deal, I do this once a year and it is a pleasant drive from O Town.  .

I got the car packed up, then got on the road by 1:30 p.m.   At the point of NO RETURN on my way out of O Town, I figured out I forgot my cell phone...how about if I just leave my arm instead?  ARG!!!    I manage to calm down, and figure that I will do fine because I will have internet and can call the hubby…

I'm so tired,,,,

Yet, I act as if researching names of folks I know on facebook and other links will bring me closer to my circumnavigation. It must be a need to connect with those I already know. Afterall I had a great day looking at a 42 foot trimaran and no one to share my experience with. Well, Sammy, my dog, is here. After a few tosses of her plastic, squeezey, shrieky dog bone, she curled up in her little bed. Then, there's Smokey the Bear, Danny's 54 year old snuggly who now shares my bed. He's a good…

Mike Brown replied to RWA's discussion Questions From a new B40 Owner in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"As Chris mentioned there's a rebuild kit available for the pump. The kit has a new pump bellows as well as a check valve. Both should resolve your back flow issue. I agree it seems rather odd that someone wired the toilet pump to the engine…"

Questions From a new B40 Owner

Hi All - I'm the proud new owner of an '11 B40.  2 cabin model with 54hp yanmar, furling main.  Have had the boat for a few weeks now and about 120 miles of sailing (and motoring).  Love it, but I have a few questions about wiring, rig tuning, plumbing, etc. and I'm hoping to find one or some of you to help.1.  The shower sump pump will run once the water level activates the float switch, pump the sump dry (kind of a pulsing suction, not smooth like the bilge pump), then enough water will flow…See More

teleflex engine control problems

I am having problems with my Teleflex engine control. It works fine controlling the throttle, mooves smoothly.  But when the tranny is engaged the lever is very hard to move past 10:00 inf orwrd, or 2:00 in reverse.  Once it passes that point it moves smoothly.   And going from forwrd to reverse is especially difficult.  I have a 2012 B40 with a Yanmar 53hp diesel.Any ideas?See More

Rudder post support

While surfing the net, came across a B 485 that sank with a supposed rudder issue.  Forum member NeilPride posted a picture of a bracket to support B40 and B43 rudder posts.  First I had heard of this.  Has anyone had this added to there boat?http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f47/oceanis-485-steering-failure-160096.htmlSee More
