If you haven't already reserved a spot at Brewers Stirling Harbor in Greenport for the rOnDAYvous, now is the time to get it done! The management at BSH says they want to hold as much space for O'day owners as long as possible, but they need to hear from us. So as soon as you're done reading this, pick up the phone and call Patrice Conklin at BSH, 631-477-0828, and let her know you're coming. Then when you're done with that, let ME know, too! (You can also e-mail Patrice at pconklin@byy.com) What are you waiting for? Get busy! Do it NOW!
Here ya go, folks -- the year's first issue of "The rOnDAYvous Report" e-newsletter. If you'd prefer to receive it directly via email, rather than waiting for me to upload it to SeaKnots and other websites, please send me an email address (on or off SeaKnots) and I'll add you to the routing list.
I'll post the article as soon as I can get around to converting a PDF file to a JPEG. Stay tuned. (Either that or email me and I'll send the article as an attachment to my reply.)
Here's someone else's take on the rOnDAYvous. The author of this article from Long Island Boating World, Bill Bleyer, is himself an O'day owner, and stopped by the gathering last year to see what the excitement was all about.
To answer the questions in no particular order, Joe:
We've had as few as 6, and as many as 15-20 boats. Fortunately, so far we've never had a problem with accommodating all who attend. Naturally, we try to go with a site that can handle all of us (say, 20 or so). Advance notice will be considerable, and can be expected to start in about a week. After that, the publicity machine will gradually crank into high gear, so that by the middle of June you'll probably be sick of hearing from me (or at least used to it). And those who provide me with an email address can get on the routing list for a monthly newsletter that has all the necessary and pertinent information about the rOnDAYvous.

Pete, How many boats usually show up and are the on any given day enough slips to accomodate all or most who come. Will it be at a larger marina and are
the number of available transient slips an issue to favor one local over another.
What kind of advance notice will there be for the event.
"Hi All,
french built 2010 43 has been very dry down below but now a slow leak has occurred which is showing at the limber holes under the floor board in forward cabin. Bilge pump goes every 3hrs for 20secs. Not sure if it’s fresh/rain water or…"
