It's just six weeks from tomorrow, mateys! Time to get serious about this year's O'day rOnDAYvous in Greenport, L.I.
Brewers Stirling Harbor is showing 13 reservations so far. A tip of the hat to Bill Coxe, Rich Breeden, Pete English, Dave Reitman, Peter Brennan, Roy Murphy, Jerry Abbatello, Rick Sencer, Rick Bartlett, Mike Novitzky, Bob DeSimone and George Paiva. (For those who are counting, I'm the 13th.)
We're about to send out a search party for some other folks who have said they're coming but haven't taken things to the next level. Are you still with us, Joe Goodrow? Hey George Boase, what's your story? Wael Ibrahim, I bet you'd like to convoy with some other O'day owners heading east from the NYC area. Sally, how about you? (If I left anyone out, my apologies; just show up at the rOnDAYvous and I'll make it up to you.)
How are all you folks when it comes to commitment issues? Just make the reservation at Brewers. Your credit card will hold the reservation but you won't be charged until you show up. Do it now or, in the words of the French knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, "I shall taunt you a second time."
Those who are driving in and staying at a local lodging, have YOU got your reservations done? I hope so.
For those of you who aren't on the rOnDAYvous e-mail list (and shame on you, BTW), here's the latest edition of "The rOnDAYvous Report", with all sorts of cool info about the Northeast's hottest get-together.
We're up to 12 boats that have reserved space at Brewers Stirling Harbor marina in Greenport for the 2010 rOnDAYvous. That's terrific, with two months yet to go. But it's still a drop in the bucket compared to the number of O'day owners out there who are still on the fence about whether or not to attend. Get busy! Call the marina and make the commitment NOW. You'll be damn glad you did.
