Of course you can make the rOnDAYvous in time. Hopefully you're planning to go outside as much as possible, rather than staying in the Ditch. With a good crew you could do a few overnighters and get in some uber-mileage. If you make it to the rOnDAYvous I will personally inscribe your name on the "Long-Distance Voyager" trophy.

That was the number I came up with too. At least 75, better at 100. Now if we had a maxi like they were running in the Newport to Bermuda race ...one skipper I interviewed was shooting for a little over 48 hours to make it there. Another was trying to dial in at 96 hours. If I were in that race I'd still be sailing.

George, My calculations are about the same as yours. I figure you have to do almost 90 miles a day. If you make it I'll see you in the area of the rOnDAYvous on Sunday, I hope. I'm unable to get a few days off before the event, I'll be setting sail Saturday morning to head over to that area. Plan on sailing around that area for a week.

He has a crew Dennis .... not sure if that's a good thing yet ;-)
Me.
Al, I did some distance numbers today. If we have good weather and no major layovers we should make it in plenty of time. I already have a reservation at the marina. In fact we should have about 4 days to spare.

Al, You should be able to make it if you have crew and if you are an experienced sailor. What condition is the engine and sails in? Make sure you have up to date charts. Take plenty of nonperishable foods ( such as canned meats and vegs, and plenty of fresh drinking water.

Hello Al,
I'm a writer, and my senses smell a good story here. Is there a chance we could talk? If you have Skype, I'm gboase in the directory. My office phone is 401-475-7069. My email address is gboase@msn.com.

I totally respect your privacy too if you would rather not. In that case I wish you all the best! I'd be lost in the world without my boat and it's wonderful to hear you're able again to have one.

Fair winds!
George

That's the plan George. I probably will do a lot of the ICW. I couldn't make the July rondevous no matter what as it is too far.

Congrats Al, you have a great boat there! I'm not sure where you're located but one suggestion is a place called Wickford Marine Consignment. They have all kinds of electronics VERY cheap. I bought a GPS, Radio and compass there for under $100 total. We call that place my favorite toy store.

Are you sailing her up the coast from Georgia?

Greetings friends, sailors, countrymen I am overcome with joy. I've just been given a ODay 27 in magnificant condition. My Benefactor is keeping all electronics fore his new boat so I am starting from scratch. I am existing on a VA disability income so I can't afford to buy new---must scrounge. An yone have old stuff i.e. radio dept sounder, etc they have no use for and still works---I'd like to hear about it. I would lo0ve to attend the rOnDAYvous but will be receiving my new boat in Georgia 1st wek of July. As a novice you guys can expect me to be a fairly active participant here from now on.
