It's almost time for the 2010 rOnDAYvous announcement. Some ideas about this year's site are already circulating. Anyone care to offer others? (All reasonable suggestions will be given due consideration.)

I was just noticing that all the posts on this wall are from 2008.....Hey Happy new Year everyone it's 2010. Or is this a time warp?

Pete,
Where have you been hiding lad? Haven't heard a peep out of you since the rOnDAYvous.
Mea culpa, Bella. I've been a ba-a-a-ad boy; this is the first time in well over a month that I've visited the O'day corner on SeaKnots. Glad I finally got off my bum to change that status quo. Now I have to get back to the boat and start the dreaded winterizing process. Darn!

If the forehatch is cracked, it can be fixed. Even if it's split down the center.

I recently restored and now sail a 1982 O'Day 25, shoal draft. It's a strong little boat, but the board doesn't want to drop. Will go under soon and have a look.
"Fan go foill" is the O-27 owned by Pete English. I'm hesitant to give out his email address without his prior OK, but how about if you email me -- pooby_99 at yahoo dot com -- and I'll forward it to him?
As for deciphering the HIN, I'm pretty sure it translates to a 1979 boat (hence the "79" in the code). Here's a little demystification I found on another site: The hull numbering, as required by the USCG, contains 12 characters; 3 groups of four. (I don't know why yours has only 11.) The first four are manufacturer and size. The next four are the serial number of the boat. The last four are the year of manufacture and/or model year. This coding changed over the years. It looks like your boat has the old number system, in which the first "M" means modified, the next two digits are the year built, and the final letter is the month (presumably April).
One other thing you might try. Go on odayowners.com, and search the owner directory for other O-30 owners. Perhaps you can find someone willing to help out with creating the forehatch template. In fact, try this link:
"Hi All,
french built 2010 43 has been very dry down below but now a slow leak has occurred which is showing at the limber holes under the floor board in forward cabin. Bilge pump goes every 3hrs for 20secs. Not sure if it’s fresh/rain water or…"
