It's two days after Thanksgiving and the boat is still in the water, and waiting for a warmer day to go sailing. Boat's in Deltaville if anyone is interested, give me a shout!!
Planning on attending 2013 Beneteau Rendezvous at the Osprey Point Marina and Yacht Club, Rock Hall, May 31 – June 2, 2013. Crewing on BigBoatBob's (Bro. Bob) Beneteau 423 "Breezing Up". Reserved slip at the marina. Any among "SeaKnoters", coming, give us a hail.
Sailing Monday April 1, 2013. Daysail out of Deltaville,Va. Temps in the 70's. Cloudy. Great sailing weather. Holler if you want to come along.
Hi Guys, Health forces this reluctantly.
See Annapolisyachtsales and look for CAL34. This is a very special boat.
Thanks, John Berens, Bradenton, FL
I’ve finally posted the info on the installation of the electric engine in my 2-29:

There are several related posts, plus a link to more pictures.
We took it out for a spin yesterday and it performed beautifully. It was definitely quieter than the 9.9 HP outboard that I’ve been using lately, and, with the engine compartment completely opened so I could check things as we went, it made less noise the diesel I took out last year. So I’m guessing it’ll be a lot quieter once I put the step back in place. We could definitely talk to each other without shouting while it ran, and hear the music without blasting it.
I haven’t stress tested the batteries yet, to see how far I can go on a charge. But that will happen in a couple of weeks when I take the boat from Yorktown down to Portsmouth for Cock Island in a couple of weeks. I am going to have a backup generator, just in case (can you say ‘hybrid’?).
No solar panels yet. I’m lucky enough to have a way of charging It while at the docks, so I’m not completely off the grid. And most of my boating is done from this location; I don’t cruise away from home much. But it is *so* nice to not have the diesel/gas/oil/petroleum product smell out of the cabin!
