Served as Watch Captain on June 2012 Bermuda Ocean Race. Start with light winds and missed slack water of tide at mouth of Chesapeake Bay. Anchored not to lose any further distance, and called swim call for two hours.
Following the Gulf Stream warm eddies foretasted for sling shot effect to avoid being pushed too far North. Still was North of Rhumb line one day out from Bermuda. Two competitors to the South on Broad Reaches beat us in to Finish Buoy even though we were physically closer to Bermuda, but on a Close Haul with strong SE winds. Finished third in the cruising class (Division 4).
One more on the Bucket List checked off.
