So far so good. What a wonderful sail. A little under 48 hours, but absolutely beautiful out there. The only small dissapointment was we didn't get to sail all the way in. Friday and Friday night were great, on a broad reach making 7 to an occasional 9 knots, going over 24 hours without a tack. Then the winds shifted and lightened, and Sat. was spent ghosting DDW. By dark boat speed was down to under 3 knots, so we spent Sat. night with the diesel going. Karen got to see her first ever live flying fish, and large turtles. Had another wonderful visit from a very large pod of Dolphins. And a little birdie that actually spent the night inside the boat, hid under a bag of Doritos. Bubba made a couple of passed at him, but only managed a few feathers. He took off this morning, when we got close to land.
For whatever it's worth, Karen can sail a boat. She can stand her watches without assistance. She understands what a course of 140 degrees means.. Plus she catches, cleans and cooks the fish.
