this winter, 2010, i plan on sailing out of san diego bay and head southward. plannin gon first stop in mazatlan. if i need a yard ii will head to puerto escondido, baja. my ultimate goal is via panama canal -- caribean.. back to gulf on occasion for visits to friends..and other adventures...
WOW
Zee...I look forward to all your posts, on that trip.
dont know when i am leaving but the plan is out of sin diego and out to mazatlan, manzanillo and points south. i will accept transient crew as share sail buddies---so if anyone wishes to do a leg, is alll goood-- lemme know!!!! we can all learn something new...
that sounds awesome.!!!!.
Have a safe trip, as just sailing around Hampton Roads, VA can become a hell of an adventure at 25 mile winds..
Hi Lola,
Your invitation to sail with you is on my list of todos. Right now my life has afforded me the opportunity to seriously, without hesitation change my dream into an action plan for offshore, round the globe solo sail. Much info is needed which includes checking out a variety of vessels that might be up for the challenge. Stay tuned and any advice you can give is welcome.

What is appealing about Maatlan and Escondido? I am starting my round the world cruise and need to know why I would want to stop at pecific places. Thanks, Also, what is your vessel of choice?
Marlene
i chose a formosa 41 yankee clipper as she was available and bubba likes it. is heavy and tracks well.
i will go to mazatlan because i have friends there, same with manzanillo. otherwise i would stop in guadalupe island to rest and skip most of mexico. sea of cortez is a good place to sail for a while--i am going to bypass that--i have been there by car, and most of my trip this leg will be to get to canal and see what i can do about traversing that.
if you are circumnavigating, you wont ,in all likelihood, be visiting mexican waters...is more practical to sail from panama area to south pacific. of course it would depend on the direction in which you travel.
my goal at present is to make it to caribean and gulf.. then i will decide how much farther i wanna sail-- may go farther but i may just stop a while and soak up some warmth--if is hurrycame season, i will turn right out of the canal and head south for that season. also depends on my crew and their ideas of a good time. we are able to do some compromising so all be happy.
Winter is a busy season for me. For one, I am getting rid of my land base home, it is up for sale. I empty it out last week, with me filling up an apt size trash bin, large donation to Salvation Army and the rest going into storage of the things I cannot replace or of value. Those things will fit into a 8x10 storage unit when the condo sells. So now I am a full time liveaboard on my Hunter 36. It is a strange feeling to not have a land base home.
I have decided once the condo sells I will retire in 3 years. I am actively looking now for a bluewater boat. Not sure yet what I want but the list is starting to come together. My Hunter will go up for sale in the coming months. In between all that, work and sailing to be done.
THAT IS FANTASTIC, Melissa....I am doing some down sizing too...exhausting. Please keep us posted.

date is   feb, 3, 2012--- i will be leaving  mazatlan  tuesday for la cruz...is a 200 mile sail.  should be a good one. engine is perfect, and all else is coming together well... looking forward to this trip, as i do  with all of mine....

"Hi All, french built 2010 43 has been very dry down below but now a slow leak has occurred which is showing at the limber holes under the floor board in forward cabin. Bilge pump goes every 3hrs for 20secs. Not sure if it’s fresh/rain water or…"
