FESTIVAL DE CANNES 2009: Cabins on the SAMARKAND

This year I arrived in Lagos Portugal from my trip over the atlantic. We started at the Bermudas. I did it with a great ship from Abeking & Rasmussen. It is a great 50 year old boat, that was build and owned by former IBM-owner Tom Watson Junior. It was designed by the sailing ledgend Olin Stephans and was build without a financial limit. I've been trying to find a Wi-Fi antenna/booster to use on my boat without sucess. Has anyone found one that REALLY works?

BVI trip starting in a couple of weeks!

As I said before, we (4 couples) are bare-boating a 45' cat for 9 days in January. We are looking for additional suggestions for great anchorages, great food, nightlife, caution spots, etc. We have received several ideas, and as it gets closer to the trip, I am asking for any additional suggestions that we should see.

How do old glassfibre boats age?

My name is Peter. Retired.



I want to buy an older (25-30 Years) glassfibre sailboat and after two to three years of use sell it, with the feeling I im not fooling the buyer.



Theoretically, when plastic ages, it should loose elasticity. On the long term it would shrink and develop cracks, become brittle, while the glassfibre may hold everything in place or break.



Has anybody experienced if this can be felt? Maybe heard, perhaps with groans or squeaking… Continue

Three days ago, we stepped off the plane in Antigua and the tropics hit us in the face. The smells of the Caribbean arrived on warm, tropical breezes. Al’s bags didn’t arrive! Claudia and I carried our baggage on, so that wasn’t a problem for us. Al’s insulin was in his bag so he had to watch his sugar intake. By the time we got to the marina, the tiki bar was open. Change of Seasons

Now that I live in the south, you would think that the weather is sunny, warm, and beautiful all year round. Well, as I've come to find out, that isn't necessarily true. The mercury has been fluctuating almost as wildly as the market lately. It's hard to believe it's December.
