Nope, it doesn't get better than this...

After two days of having my sister Jane, and another day having my volleyball coach assist with tying up the nets, they are almost secure. At least if someone were to stumble and fall onto one of them, or cautiously walk across them, the net should hold their body weight. It will be another day or two or three of tying a second row to seriously secure them. Despite careful planning each net was tied on a little differently. Getting the nets organized to stretch equally in all directions was…

Plagarizing my own writings.....

This entry is an excert of an e-mail response I sent to a new sailing friend from the UK. Imagine him being interested in a 35/36 foot trimaran. Yea, I am not alone. Anyway, here's the recent musing,,,

The big test will come this summer when I sail solo from Port Canaveral, Florida to New York Harbor - another 1200 mile hitch. Challenging the gulf stream, for me is pretty daunting. As my plans are to do more distant sailing I thought this would be a good way to find out if the…

Play or Work

Well, this week-end's distraction was special so other than wiping down the sleeping quarters I didn't get much work done. Afterall, I was invited to sail on Sam Bradfield's latest hydrofoil design. The boat is only 18 feet long and really light. Unfortunately, the breeze died off by the time we got out. Having Mike McGarry, Sam's #1 skipper and the infamous tri designer Jim Brown on board was just too compelling to pass up. The bonus for the week-end was when my tris designer, John Marples,…

Solace in a strange way...

It is funny how my blog is becoming a night time buddy. After all the craziness of life as a school counselor in a Title I public school, the disappointment of a phone call that doesn't come, and the realization that there is still so much I need to learn before setting out offshore, I actually feel content when deciding to check out the sea knots blogs. For the first time in months I scanned the many groups. Of course, the multihull group was my first visit. There hasn't been a post since…

Progress,,,,

Progress toward my departure on May 30, things are getting expensive: new rigging, new nets, a clean bottom, an AIS system, boat cushions, and ten bikinis sure add up. The encouragement is nice, but the warnings weigh heavy on my mind. During last night's TGIF at Melbourne Yacht Club, one seasoned offshore sailor looked me dead in the eye as he asserted, "Your boat will be broken up in 25 foot waves as they cascade upon you enroute to Bermuda." Wow, I sucked in every word.  Then, I…

Why are hubcaps less common on modern vehicles?

Hubcaps, which are attached directly to the wheel and rim assembly, are less frequently seen on modern vehicles. This shift is largely due to the adoption of wheels made from aluminum or metal alloys, which are less vulnerable to damage from salt, road chemicals, and harsh winter conditions compared to the previously common steel wheels.WheelCovers.Com prioritizes customer support and security to provide a seamless shopping experience.
