Joe... Generally we look for nice locations with things-to-do options off-site as well as on. At the rOnDAYvous, you can usually count on good food and libation, music and activities, and the all-important connecting and reconnecting with fellow O'day owners (past, present and wannabe). Oh, and let's not forget the opportunity to fix up your boat in a new and interesting location. (Don't I know it!)

Dockside is preferred to anchoring or mooring, since it makes for much better and easier socializing and fellowship. We've tried both dockside and moorage, but the consensus definitely leans toward the docks. While we try to keep costs in check in this regard, at the same time we figure that since there are no signup charges of any kind, spending a couple bucks for a transient slip shouldn't be too much of a hardship.

BTW, I highly endorse George's idea of a flotilla to travel to the rOnDAYvous. Several of us have taken that approach in the past, and it's always proven itself a winner.

I hope to see you there (wherever "there" turns out to be).

Pete

George, I didn't see your message in my inbox. try again. I'd be interested in the floatila idea.

Westport is closer for me, but what about anchorage? My friend has a powerboat there... The river screams as the tide goes out, and can be a dicey. from what I've heard. I'm wondering in general what are the expected accomodations for a good location. Are we looking a anchoring, rafting, or Transient slips and moorings. What happens at a ronOdayvous?

Hello Joe, I just sent you a private message. I sail from Apponaug just around the corner from you. We could form our own floatila to invade the rODayvou! Safety in numbers as they say. Always happy to meet new friends in Narragansett Bay. I have an O'Day 25 myself. Should be able to match speed pretty easy! I spent a couple of weeks on Block Island in September. You might want to take a look at the articles and video I did from that visit. Great place to visit.
I'm a marina reviewer and this spring I'm headed for Boston, Cape and Islands. Some of your experience and feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks!

My vote is Westport MA. Very nice beach, right in Buzzards Bay

PS......Mystic Harbor would be a great location and I'd make a supreme effort to make it down there too. Joe

Hi all....I am very interested in attending this event. I'll be sailing out of Narragansett Bay. Last season was my first season sailing and I made it to Cutty Hunk Island for a overnight, and many trips out and back from New Bedford Harbor. My experience is limited and probably wouldn't venture more than fifty miles from home port which is Warwick Cove. I'd like to sail out to Marthas Vinyard, Block Island, and Long Island this season. So If the Odayvous
is in any of those destinations I'll be there. Thanks Joe

Pete have you come up with anything yet. Go to the www.latsandatts.com
and under the pub is a topic "should we plan early". Would be nice if they came up with a non conflicting date. The person who started that topic has an Oday and probably would come to the rOnDAYvouz also.

Hello Pete,
Yes I am working on putting it into my schedule. Depending on weather I'm going to try and finish my work north of here (Boston, Cape and Islands) and then into the Long Island area. I may be able to kill two seagulls with one stone.

It may be too far for most, but Montauk point has not been mentioned. Easy to get to by water, not so easy for most by car.

I watching with great interest the venue chosen.

Through various avenues I've gotten a bunch of input about this year's rOnDAYvous site. How about hearing from some of you out in the Narragansett or Buzzard's Bay area (or other points east)? Are you planning to join the party? How far are you willing to travel (by boat or car) to get there? Help me out here, people.
