Slack time at the Verrazzano Narrows is at 10:23am tomorrow. After that, the current is with us until 4:40pm so I was thinking about leaving Newport at around 11 or so...
Hi Pete! Am glad to hear the rOnDAYvous was such a success! Wish I could have been there but I'm trying very hard to be disciplined and stay in focus on my house which is up for sale (worse time ever, I know.) So I'll keep my fingers crossed to make next year's event. Are the dates set yet? It'll be the first event on my 2009 calendar! Best, Sally
Hi Pete! Thank you for the encouraging words! I will inceed take you up on your offer and ask questions about my boat. I see you are in Monmouth County in Jersey. I grew up on the other side of the state on the Delaware, but spent most of my summers in Sea Girt where my Dad worked at the military academy there. What a wonderful part of the Garden State! Hope you're enjoying some good sailing! Best, Sally
Thank you Pete, I need all the incouragement I can get! I will put this in my pocket for the day. I have been starting with buzzing around in the dingy in the harbor. Yesterday I had quite the adventure in it getting stuck in the rain wind and hail storm, it was fun............~Barbara
Drenched barely begins to describe it. But as I told my wife, I would much rather have gotten soaked while out on the water than sitting at the dock. Besides, there was no lightning, barely any thunder, and only a few larger-than-average hailstones, so the rain was more of a soggy inconvenience than anything else.
Pete, hope to get to Jersey for some sailing this year but who know whitch way the wind will blow. My family is originally from Bellville and Bloomfield. Fair winds

Hey Pete ...how much trouble was it to obtain your USCG lic. & was it costly ? I've been thinking about getting some credentials for some time - but always thought it was going to be either A)too time consuming, B)too expensive, C)too hard to pass all the exams, or perhaps D) ALL of the above! Enquiring minds want to know ...... ;)=
It's official -- I got my USCG captain's license in the mail over the weekend. Yee-ha!!! The first big step on the path to a second career. Anyone want skipper or crew for a boat delivery? I'm available. Stop by Newport Marina in Jersey City and say hi.
Hey sailor boy! Nice to see you again on sea knots.
Just got back from pirating and sailing in the Keys over Memorial day. Way cool. We built a canon that shot bread balls and blew all the other boats out of the water. No, I did not get arrested. Happy sailing to you!
ok ....big hint here ....think "360" and "Liason" ...and you will regain your navigation .....I like this place (Seaknots) ....I havent posted at the other place in quite some time...but I kinda hated to get rid of it as well ...so you never know ...still....I may decide to post again over there one day ....Peace, Love, & happiness my friend !
Hey Pete, no problem! You missed a really warm reception by everyone at the marina with Champagne and all. As you can imagine, it was our first time docking the boat so we were a bit nervous but there were so many hands helping out that it was just a breeze! We looked for you and saw EmmieLou peacefully resting in its berth. Hope you had a chance to sail her hard with all the wind this weekend. Hope to finally meet you this weekend!
Hey big daddy ..if you get a chance ...pick thru my pics & you will see one of my friends Odays called "DayO" .....go figure....in any case ..they are good ole boats ..well designed, but then ..my Columbia has its bright points as well ...have a great M Day ....hope you get some sailing in!
