I bruised my rib's last monday, leaned too hard, too quick over the stern rail to pull up outboard. Got xrays a couple of days ago, no fractures. Hurt's like hell, been 8 days now...and not much better. Was planning on doing the renaming ceremony & sail all weekend...didn't happen. Was a sad sailorette sitting here in the woods, watching the wind in the tree's. Between the rain, o/b snafu, ribs...will hopefully sail before haulout. :-)

You did get alot done! You'll have to come sail with us as soon as I heal up..which I hope will be in 5 days. Not holding my breath tho. Putting around in a dinghy better than nothing I guess. LOL.. It's a day on the water ! The Wickford consign. is never opened on sundays by the way. Suppose to be another marine consign. in Portsmouth somewhere, have been there but was riding shotgun so didn't pay attention.

Hey Gary, the marine consignment store is called Wickford Marine Consignment on I believe Post Rd., Rt. 1 ...in a strip mall kinda place. Is in North Kingston. Also a very good consign. in Newport ..not sure of name, maybe Newport marine conisign. it's on or at intersection of Admiral Kalbfus Ave. very cool one. Got two ports resealed yesterday...friend's went down & did. I'm still on the hard getting mended :-( U sail lately??? Was too nice a weekend not to.

You doing any sailing? Working on boat? Good weather for it I guess, at least not 90 degrees. That's the only positive thing I can say about it. Got outboard put on yesterday and ran it for a while. Have to have remote put on as shift control too far back and under stern rail on this model. I think I may be sailing two weeks before haulout between the weather and this o/b . hullabalu.

So how goes the boat stuff? Finally outboard came..still at store, arranging the pickup and install. With all this rain you must be finding all the leaks on her. I'm hoping I haven't forgotten how to sail! :-)

NP ...i removed the other entry. looks like you are really knee deep in boat stuff now. Hope you have luck on selling your Columbia to a great new owner. Perhaps someone in the Columbia group will know someone. Best of luck!!

Where is the boat now? Does sound unique and looks nice..has great potential. Will talk to my friends more today who know alot more than me about Wickford..gotta love that "local knowledge".

So the big question is, "How many times have you been to see her"? LOL...a true gauge of how "in love" one is...Good Luck!!!!!! Sounds like you know what you're doing and have a good working knowledge of systems.

I've heard Wickford very shallow...would look into...sometimes they say u have enuf water but not really, would ask local boaters, not marina. Saw someone offering slip in Wickford on RI Craigslist, not sure how long ago. Friends that I sail with in that area avoid Wickford cause of depth.

The one thing I have found with boats is that what you think the cost will be to get her ready never turns out to be that. To be on the safe side I'd at least double the figure you have in your head right now. Also, I'd have a complete survey done before purchasing. Could work to your benefit on the final purchase price. As with love, lusting also blurs one's vision! Good luck! Terri

Hello fellow Columbia Owner ...good to see your posts in Columbia Group! Hope all is still going as planned on your project list. I suppose you might say that I too am somewhat of a computer geek..of course sometimes I wish I didnt do it for a living ...*lol*. Im curious to know how the windsurfing is going .....and if thats the version whereby you are being pulled by Kites or by sails?? Just curious ......thanks for the posts .....

Gary,
Let me know anytime you're going to be in the area and we'll go sailing.

I think I would go for closed cell foam rather than the pink fan fold, at least it comes in black! and wears well from year to year. can also be used for cockpit cushions in the better weather, like 4th of July.

Why wait for a RX? All you need is an EXIT visa to get out of MA, I did it several years ago as a live aboard. Eventually ended up in USVI; where we could really use some talented, boat savvy computer geeks that will simply show up when they say, fix the problem and charge a reasonable rate.

I still travel to the Cape in summers; family keeps me posted on the weather. My motto is that the temperature needs to be well Above my age in order for me to be comfortable.

Columbia 33 would be just about right for the usual conditions here.
