About Me:
I am a true crusty, old, sailor. I started sailing in 1970 but I've been on and around boats since I was about 6, so I have some feel for boating in general. I've had over a dozen boats including 2 I built myself ranging from 10' to about 27' both power and sail. I have sailed mono and multihull. I love sailing tall ships when I can find one. So far my best luck has been out on the left coast (California) I don't think we have a tall ship in Florida, at least I haven't found one yet.
Current location:
Orlando
Destinations visited:
All of the Caribbean, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rico, Bahama's, Okinawa, Taiwan, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii.

I'm sitting here to bad out to do anything outside. Reading blogs from other sailors and thinking back to when I was on the water 8-12 hours a day 5,6 & 7 days a week. Those were great days. I worked in what I thought was the best group on the water at Disney. We carried folks from Dixie Landing (now Port Orleans Riverside) to downtown Disney on what Disney called the Sassagoula river. 2.5 miles of winding river through the woods under 3 bridges and across the lake at Downtown. What a… Continue

Well, if I'm going to have a blog I guess this is the place for it. Mainly at this point in my life Sailing and computers are 1 & 2 in my life with possible Motorized coastal cruising 3rd. If I sound melancholy I'm really not. I have a great wife, nice house, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a good church in which I'm very involved. I guess my only problem is lack of money for boat stuff. I can always find things to do to my boat, just not always the cash to do them. But who knows when that will change.… Continue

Hi Captain! Neat page you have & a neat life too- very salty. The profile photo was taken in mid-2008 at "Powell", a tiny, unihabited Bahama outisland. The sea carved the limestone out and made all these cool, sort-of scary caves. I was scared that there might be bats, but there wasn't (ha-hah, bats, too much Hollywood influence) cheers!

Hey Jack,

My website is still there but I have not done anything with it in a few years. I didn't get the activity I had hoped and couldn't get enough advertisers. I had to leave it up for a certain time to satisfy the advertisers I had signed. It ended up a break even thing, and I will most likely archive what is there and kill the web part and point the site to my personal site. But it was fun to play with, I learned A LOT, and I met a bunch of really wonderful people like yourself. Laurie and I are hoping that the economy will improve about the time Alex goes to college in four years, and we will go off on another adventure. We are currently researching the possibility of purhasing a 56 foot catamaran, and outfitting it for diving. It would give us the potential for 4 couples on board, and room for a compressor, tanks and such. As well as large enough diesels to get around when there is no wind, or on the nose wind. We will see!

We've beenup to silver springs there West off lake George. A couple times. As a matter of fact we bought our pontoon boat at astor marina. So we've been up there several times. I'm father upstream (Sanford) and I to have gone from Sunrise to sunset. It's a beautiful thing about this state. I like sailing off Sanibel Island as my favorite spot. Don't really like the inter coastal that well. I do spend a lot of time on Lake Morroe. I've been berthed at all 3 marina's there (Sanford).

Salt Springs is north of Astor (Hwy. 40) on the St. Johns River. You have to go on Lake George to get there. I am not far from water, really. I have lakes less than 30 minutes away. Only they are gator infested. I am not close to the water I want to be on, the oceans!!! But I can get to either coast in about the same time. Go see the sun rise in the Atlantic, then drive a little bit, and see it set in the Gulf.
