In addition to being as much of a "First Mate" as I possibly can~
I am, what is referred to as a "Lightworker", and "Crystal Child" of the First Generation so you will find that my post will include the reflection of my Spirit as well as my own take on the sailing adventures Captain John and I have experience. There will be funny stories, pictures and tells of all the hard work we had to do to get "Neptune's Toy" in the water sailing. Her story is a great one.

WESTSAIL 28 Back in the water after THREE YEARS!

The weekend finally came. The appointed time that all powers would converge to put "Neptune's Toy" in the water for the first time in over three years had arrived. SAILING INTO FOUL WEATHER- LABOR DAY HOLIDAY! 2010

This was a cruise that we have been looking forward to for months! John,II has leave from the Army for 30 days home and the plan was to get to Little Bahama Island for his first Ocean trip and our first real journey in "S/V Neptune's Toy".

The hull, OMG! THE HULL!

The day came when the Marina staff strapped her in and up she went, gracefully emerging from the water for the first time in at least 10 years.

We expected the 3 inches of sea life on the hull, so as they scraped the hull free of most of that we felt pretty good.about what we were seeing at that moment. Entering the Westsail to evaluate the complete extent of her neglect and injuries was quite a frightening experience. I felt as if what I was surveying would never be able to be resurrected. The "Watkins 27" really needed a replacement inboard so as all good Sailors do, we search, talked to all our friends, all the Marina suppliers in the State of Florida it seemed and then a strange thing happened.

Yes the Satori was the one written about in the book The Perfect Storm.....I am very good friends of the Capt. Of course it is a book and was not as true as one would think...... we all have to make money one way or another.

It is nice to meet you.....I have just arrived in the area and stopped here in Stuart, so we are almost neighbors. So far I like the area. Now the heat.......it is hot....any advice for a northern??? I just finished making my awning larger for the midship area and now need to work on one for the bow area. My plan was to go to the Tampa/Ft Myers area but the oil spill changed that so I think I will hang here for awhile. I am very impressed with what you folks are doing to the Westsail you have. I was on a 32 ft Westsail called Satori years ago and fell in love with her. I knew she would take care of me in most any weather.And that she did I was in her with about 65 kt winds out in the bermuda triangle. She handled it like it was nothing. Amazed me...I would go back out in her in a minute.
