Profile Information

Profile Type:
Vessel
Homeport:
North Haven, Maine
About Me:
I'm a boat builder/designer/community member/father on an island in Penobscot Bay. I built and launched a Chris White Hammerhead 54 trimaran in 2002 and spent that next winter in the Bahamas. Since then I've cruised and raced in New England, Bermuda, and Nova Scotia when I could. I spent years building Flying Fish and it is my hope to spend an equal amount of time sailing her. She is a blast to sail - big, comfortable, and very fast (25.7kts - flat water) with 250 mile days the norm.
Current location:

Destinations visited:
Bahamas, Eastern Seaboard, Bermuda, Canada
Looking to:
I will endure another Maine winter (my 36th) preparing Flying Fish for another trip south in '09. Planning to race Marion/Bermuda and Halifax in June and July with cruise to Bras d'or or perhaps Newfoundland after the race.

"Auto ascending setup is an interesting idea, though it takes a bit of fiddling around to get it right. Once it's dialed in, it actually works quite well."

"Michael, From experience over three keel boats a fully battened main is almost a requirement. Not only will it make dropping the sail into the boom bag far easier it certainly reduces any flogging and vastly lengthens the life of the sail. While…"
