It's beena while since I last logged onto Seaknots.  Now, I have a question.  Can anyone recommend places to put a boat on the hard near Toulon, France or Genoa, Italy?

Hi Andrea, glad you liked Sardinia... and all the rest there is nearby, Corsica etc. You didn't mention Capri, Positano, Ponza, Palmarol or Ventotene, these are well worth visiting. Further away and something different, is Tunisia, for me a fascinating landfall, Bizerte, then Sidi bu said, ancient Carthagena. From there to Malta, also fascinating.

I havn't cruised Croatia yet, but I will. As you know, Turkey has been a favourite of mine, having spent four years there. When you go I can give you many tips.

We loved loved it! We basically started with the Balearic Islands headed over to Sicily, the Aeolian Islands, Sardinia, Corsica then to Barcelona. Along the way we found so many beautiful places to add to our list of favorites.

Balearic Islands - Formentera
Sicily - Cefalu
Sardinia, Costa Smeralda - Cala Coda di Cavallo
Sardinia, Costa Smeralda - In general it is just beautiful
Strait of Bonifacio - Lavezzi
Corsica - Bonifacio

Our blog in the med starts with this post:

Other long standing favorites we have are:
France - St. Tropez
Corsica - Girolata
Corsica - Calvi
Spain, Costa Brava - Cadaques

Now that our boat is in the Med we hope to discover new places to add to our list of favorites! Do you have any suggestions? Love to hear them!

Andrea, sorry I missed your comment on a visit to the Costa Smeralda, my home sailing ground. Tell me, how did it go?

We will be spending the next month in Costa Smeralda, Sardinia, Italy. Does anyone have any advice on anchorages, marinas, restaurants or any other local knowledge that would make our time here even more special?

A friend is sending his boat to Genoa. He plans to leave it in the Med indefinitely. We will be spending a lot of time on the boat and are interested in anchorages and marinas in and around Genoa--about 100 miles each way from there. Any info would be appreciated.

Right now we are headed to Sicily and Costa Smeralda. I hope there are some safe anchorages so we don't have to go to a marina every day. Do you have any recommendations?

We are in Greece after staying/working on the boat for a year, and will go westward as soon as we receive a new genoa, hopefully mid June. Probably visiting Egypt first, then Crete and Malta. Sailing family with two teenagers onboard!
