I'd really like to get something going on this. If anyone is interested, please post possible destinations, open dates, etc. This is a rare opportunity to get in some quality sailing time with the support of a group of experienced (sic) sailors.
Just noticed the thread. Sounds like a great idea, but I'm going to be out of the country at the first part of that. Guess I'll wait until the fall raft-up. :-)
Very good idea.

Williamsburg is pretty far South for the denizens of the northern Bay. How about Cole's Point, Crisfield, or Solomons?

Just a thought.
Crisfield might be doable. Solomons may be too far north. How about Reedville,Va. Plenty of room for a raft up there.Or Tangier?
I guess it depends on where the center of gravity of folks is. Solomons is a long day for me. Reedville is pretty far. I think it cuts out anyone in Baltimore and North. Where are people?

Of course, so far it's just you and me. *grin*
I know that just transiting from Baltimore to Annapolis can be a day long slog in bad weather. But it can be a 2 1/2 hour trip with good wind and the tide in your favor. So I guess what I'm saying is that it's hard to find common ground. I can generally schedule a long weekend, starting on Thursday and ending on Tuesday, so it would be workable for me to make Solomons, even if I had to stop overnite in Reedville . That's if I were single handing. With crew that I trusted, I'd have no problem making it an overnite sail running straight from Deltaville to Solomons with a good weather window. I'd probably do the nightime portion from Deltaville, and finish in daylight. I"m halfway familiar with the middle bay up to Smith Point. Wouldn't want to cross the Potomac at night though.
I'm thinking this is why there are "Regional" Cruising Clubs with everybody starting from the same dock, more or less....sort of limits making new aquaintances though. Well, more to think about. The Bay doesn't seem that big until you try to figure out how to get from one end to the other.... lol
Sorry Martin, I lost track between one thread and the next!

So Deltaville, Urbanna, and Annapolis (so far) as starting points.

Seems to me that somewhere like Crisfield is about the same distance for everyone, or pick Tide's Inn for a Southern Bay Gathering and I'll get down there if I can.
I was only using Tide's Inn for an example. I'm thinking that Crisfield might be a good stopping point. Let's look at it for anchorage and services.
Never been there, but will check Shellenberger and charts.
Same with us. Being Baltimore based might work against us though. Depends on the winds and water. Put as down as tenative.
If i can get a cheap flight down, anyone have an extra bunk?
You have brownies? You have a bunk!!!!!
