Anacortes, Cap Sante Marina
We had
originally planned to head from Friday Harbor directly to Port Townsend
but upon reaching Cattle Pass we once again found it enshrouded in fog
and decided to turn around and make for Anacortes instead.
We
spent our afternoon wandering the shops and pubs and visited my favorite
store, Marine Supply and Hardware Company is said to be the oldest
marine chandlery on the West Coast (202 Commercial…

The "Watkins 27" really needed a replacement inboard so as all good Sailors do, we search, talked to all our friends, all the Marina suppliers in the State of Florida it seemed and then a strange thing happened.
I was minding my own business coming home from a doctor appointment and some "smuck" rammed me in the back of my SUV sending me off the road and lucky I did not roll. I climbed out of the vehicle, checked the damage and realized the guy that hit me was in big big trouble with…

I have just finished changing all my lighting over to LED's, it was definitely a trial and error effort but here are the advantages:
1. my Amp hours has been reduced (with all lights, cabin heads, galley nav, anchor light etc on) from 44 amp hours to 6
2. my average amp hours has been reduced from 18 to 2,5, (this would be at anchor with the salon lights on)
3. my anchor light uses 1.2 amp hours versus 8
4. my solar panel (a 75 watt 3,5 amp) takes will trickle…

When Captain John and I began our sailing ambitions in 2005 we purchased a sweet 27 ft Watkins to hone our skills on the Indian and Banana Rivers around our area. It was a quaint boat with all the essentials and in decent shape so, after much studying, Capt. John and I embark on our first day trip out on the water. We managed fine getting out of the Marina, and motored out just far enough to get the sails up. Well, all went as planned and we proceeded to play with the sails and catch the wind a…

Now you have a feel of who I am as a person, The Captain is trying his best to make a good "First Mate" of me. As I write here, you will find his job is rather difficult and it produces some pretty interesting, and funny situations. I hope you enjoy as I write and I look forward to making some great friends here!
Smooth sailing and happy days!

Desiderata - by Max Ehrmann
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and…

Well, I finally installed a ICOM-700 SSB in S/V "Anna Lynn" and am really proud of my installation. Several weeks ago I applied and received my FCC License in the mail, and today I got on the air to check everything out. It sounds like everything was working really great, communicated with a fellow somewhere in upper Minnesota however, I got really embarrassed when he started telling me my liciense sounded like the license plate from my car, and that I was talking on a HAM frequency and it was…

It is time stop doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. After two years of seeking and training new crew I have changed tactics. Earlier tonight I already spoke to my most dedicated, loyal and fun crew about a change in venue. One of the changes I will announce on Wednesday evening. The other change has to do with recruitment.
Race recruits and current crew, including myself will have to meet three crieteria: (a) a be physically fit or be making…
