Yes there is a fish called Pig fish which carries Ciguatera.

Do you cook or give to cat raw?.

Worth repeating Sweep Pea my last cat lived for 24 yeasr on the diet I am using.
Well both my cats, Monet and Matisse have same symptoms...didn't know they could catch something. Sleeping all time, will not eat, and vomit.
Got anti vomit meds, and antibiotic...and $400 on blood and xray lungs as heavy breathing...Allergy is suspect.

Anyone got a handle on this?
Dear Lola,
this is not enough information to make a comment on what could be wrong with your cats.

What does the vet say? What is the blood count? Is there are fluid in the lungs? Has allergy tests been done?
I'm not a cat expert. I've bred and owned dogs for a very long time.
It took me 30 years to learn that feeding any sort of commercial food , canned or dry, is a not good for a dog.
It gives them allergies and makes them eventually sick, regardless of what the pet industry claims. Same goes for cats.
I feed raw, raise my pets naturally, and have very few problems with my pets ever since.
But that's me, I never do things the conventional way anyhow. LOL
What are these kiddies eating? If they're on dry food, they don't get enough liquid into their bodies and will eventually suffer kidney disease . !!

Do you vaccinate yearly.. We make our pets very sick with over-vaccinating !!!

Allergies???? If this is allergies than, most likely, they will be allergic to the grain in the commercial food.

You must address the cause of the problem, not the symptoms. Anti vomit meds is just addressing the symptom. It would be good if you can find a homeopath veterinary doctor to help you with this.

How old are the cats?????

There are some wonderful e-mail support group for cat owners. If I were you I would 'Google Yahoo groups' .. search for cat health ..cat raw feeding.. truth about vaccination within these groups.. etc..
These groups have a wealth of knowledge within them.
You need to find out as much as you can about all of this.
Liv
Yes so true and for us humans too....I will take your advice....I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the info

Lola
lola--kat eats tuna raw and salmon raw and sometimes he will eat it partially cooked---he likes his seabass cooked just barely he will not eat "bait fish"--mackerel, sardines, smelt, whitefish, etc...my kat is spoiled, but is a work kat....he guards boat and kills anything not human that dares board....even hits dogs, and makes them cry...lol...and spits and snarls at humans when i am not home--even when they try to feed him....gooooood kat-------i have been answering questions on yahoo about kats for years...lol.....
lola---if you use sachets and such, please make sure they do not contain cinnamon---is a poison for cats and they act such as do yours.......use only flowers--no spices....
Don't use in home....no live plants, as they destroyed early on 7 yrs ago, So i learned.

They seem a little better today...not eating a lot. Tomorrow they get white chicken meat cooked.

I am glad to report Monet and Matisse are out of the woods, w the poisoning.
Still on antibiotics, eating almost like normal...Matisse still breathes fast.

I went through a bad week, as much as them

Speaking to Vet tomorrow.

Thanks to all who have been concerned...Lola
I'm glad to hear that your babies are on the mend. It's always nerve wrecking when they are sick.
Hugs and many pats for the kitties.
Zeehag,
we've tested the life jacket our dog wears on the boat. We made him swim, wearing his jacket and found out:

What's most important in a dog's PFD is that there's enough floatation devise under his head so he can rest his head on it. The dog needs to have good support there, to keep his head is out of the water. The PFD needs to be balanced to keep the dog's body up and balanced too.
One PFD that we tried out pushed the dog to his side and he struggled and swam not to be pushed under ,side ways.

Some of the PFD's on the web site your provided look good to me, others do not.

I think, in order to keep the pet alive, should he/she ever go overboard, is a PFD that really works and test it. .
