Beneteau Oceanis 40 / 2 CABINES ----versus--- Bavaria 40 Vision 2008/2009

Does any body know something about this Boat ?
I am planing to buy one of these ...

The Hanse and the most of the other brands in the same price category have in the moment an rectangular design witch is not pleasant to us.

The Beneteau Oceanis is better equipped for the price ...
What you know about those Boats ?

I hope to get more informations soon (visiting an Beneteau dealer)

May I ask you what do you think of the steering gear from this Boat ? How is the access to this part? How does it really work? One chain ? Some ones reported a broken chain between the two wheels ....

Some ones reported an horrible steering if you go backyard with the Boat in your Box. It seems that there is a strong force on the rudder ?

How is a FAST gear changing ( fast forward / backward ) when you are parking in a small Box in the port ?

How is the Bow-thruster ? Strong enough ? Consumption ?

Do you have an electrical winch? Is this winch strong enough for pulling someone in the mast ?

Do you have an TV installed ? Does it work with 12 volts?

How are the pumps ? Shower, Bilge etc.

I have to invest 180 000 Euros for an Oceanis FULL options here in Europe ... that is a lot of money
The Oceanis is cheaper as the Bavaria and have much more options for the same price.
I am now back at home.
We have decided to take the 40ft because there is not enough space in our marina for such wide boats in Koper / Slo.

In a few days we will know what the price of a full equipped boat is.

We had the chance to visit a OCEANIS 40, 3 cabines.
The boat seems huge inside.
I love the position of the pumps and the technical elements.

I noticed that the doorknobs are a bit loose. Is this usual by the Beneteau?
I also noticed that there are some spaces ( left ? ) where you can lose objects ... did you noticed this to ?
I think Beneteau will fix the door knobs under warranty if they get loose but I am not sure what you mean by spaces where you can lose objects...

there are some space left in the Salon

Imagine, if you pose some coins or small things here, you find them back in the Bilge ...
(!)
Ha Ha! I haven't looked at the 40 but the 43 has trimmings that would keep small objects in place. :-)
An other strange thing is that they changed the wide of the Boat from 3m95 to 3m91 in the Beneteau official catalog.
What happened that the boat is smaller now ... ;-)
Yes. Some marinas are too small for these huge boats, so they had to make them smaller... :-)

On paper or in reality ?
Just joking! :-)

No, that is reality ! As funny as it sounds ....
I know very little about how they sail or what creature comforts they have, but here's what I do know - the last time Paloma was at Southern Yachts (off Galveston Bay, South of Houston) for a bottom job and new zincs, 80% of the 25 or so boats out of the water for actual repairs were mostly Beneteaus (and a few other fin keel, spade rudder bay boats) with damage to either rudders or keels. Probably from groundings.
All of those boats looked fragile when out of the water. Some of the owners came over and marveled at the sturdy looking underbody of Paloma, my blue water warrior princess. Others will no doubt disagree, but I would never go to sea in a boat with a spade rudder and skinny fin keel.
compared to a Bavaria .... ?

Why are hubcaps less common on modern vehicles?

Hubcaps, which are attached directly to the wheel and rim assembly, are less frequently seen on modern vehicles. This shift is largely due to the adoption of wheels made from aluminum or metal alloys, which are less vulnerable to damage from salt, road chemicals, and harsh winter conditions compared to the previously common steel wheels.WheelCovers.Com prioritizes customer support and security to provide a seamless shopping experience.
