Hey Folks

anyone have any trouble with their shower water pump. I have a whale 220 slurper for the shower. it seems to be pushing and pulling water and not pumping out unless I mess with it. when I put my finger by the intake, it sucks then pushes doing nothing with the water.

Any ideas?

Mike Brown should know this. LOL

Mike, haha yes I do, but Dave already beat me to it. I would have answered sooner but was cruising by your neck of the woods delivering a brand new Jeanneau 469 with the owners on board from Philly to Boston.  BTW try cleaning the surfaces of the pump diaphragm as they can get a build up on them that will keep the flaps open creating a vacuum break.

Ya see, thats why you da man. LOL

I hope your having a great trip? Hows that new Jeanneau?

The trip went well although the stretch from NYC across LI Sound and all the way up to Boston was a bit rough at times. We had winds on the nose ranging from 20-30kts and the typical 5-6' sloppy seas that go with it. Their new Jeanneau is a beauty and handled everything that was thrown at her like a champ.

How long did the entire trip take

It was 480 nautical miles and took 6 days. Running time amounted to 64hours.

The LI sound washing machine can be abusive and that is a long trip before Ocean water.

But... im sure you still loved it. LOL

Yes LI was a washing machine but east of Block over to Buzzards Bay was downright nasty. I'd have enjoyed it more if we could have stopped to smell the roses but this was all about getting there so it was long days.

Let me know if you do a delivery again and want company. I would love to do a trip

Hi Mike

Have you had any issues with your hour meter at the helm station? mine is starting to function intermittently. I use it because this is how I gauge my fuel. the one at the electric panel never works correctly after having it replaced 5 times. the same with the water cells. anyway, I can seem to find the part.

Mike if I'll keep you in mind if the opportunity comes up. As for the hour meter at the helm yes mine is also intermittent. The good thing is that even though it doesn't always display the hours it is counting them. BTW I haven't tried to troubleshoot it. And yes the gauges on the switch panel aren't too accurate. Actually the fuel is fine but the two water tanks can't be trusted. I keep a log on our trips which includes run times, numbers of gals at last fuel up, etc. I have the 54hp Yanmar which burns apx 1.0 gph at 2500 RPMs and 1.3gph at 2700 RPMs so I can do the math and know when to top off

Sounds like its time for a rebuild on that pump. Unscrew the holding ring and check out the diaphragm. You can order from Defender or a bunch of different sites.
