Hi Freedom owners...I am thinking of cutting the cushion in half in the aft berth that runs across the stuffing box area...that cushion is hard to handle for me.

Have any of you thought of that? I plan to leave the fabric attached on the surface...holding the two together...I plan to use another piece of fabric to cover the cut.

I will take photos of the progress..

Let me know what you think...TY
Hi Lola
In our aft cabin we use several layers to make a mattress rather than one big chunk of foam. The layers are much more manuverable that a solid chunk . The first layer is cut to match the seams in the plywood and velcroed down to the plywood panels. But we are just seasonal cruisers. We live in Maine and F 30Corydora is a barn for the winter.

Great idea...I did cut mine and get to the engine better...I mostly use that Aft for storage anyway. I like to sleep on the Settee...anyway.....
Going sailing tomorrow with Sailing Club Member...going to check rpm's...concerned as the diver could not get the prop off, and after he was hammering down there I have black smoke...when I checked in the slip ... it then went to white smoke.

I wanted prop off to spray Petit zinc paint on it. I needed bottom cleaned and had 2 zincs put on as well.

Feel free to chime in.

 TOPIC  WEEP HOLES

Have you cleaned yours out?

Well as one sailor told me when we see water inside a boat we act quickly.

I had water inside on the sole.  Of course I paniced.  Well from the Freedom Boat Owners Site.  I got great advice.  For the life I could not find the weep hole.

Bob Weeks, gave excellent advice using a compas of sorts..he said facing V berth, go south west and after I scraped the crud, found a hole.  I used the advised pipe cleaner, and a wire, and poked at it, and cleaned the whole area.  Sure enough when I poured a cup of water,it all ran into the hole, and I could see it ripple in the bulge.

I am amazed how one clogged hole caused me so much stress.  I am lucky, as I don't think I will have to replace the sole, as it's damaged on the back side where not noticed.

Now if I see more water we will have to address the mast attached to the deck.

See enclosed photos

Thanks to all who helped me

.

Note the other hole on the bulk head...I was thinking for electrical wires and then not used.  The lager electrical wires do go out a larger hole  on the back side...I plan to lower that hole level w the sole...Should I?

I have an electrician coming tomorrow to do another job for me, and I will see if he can hi power pressure blow into the holes.

Where are some other weep holes?

Thank you

Sea Cock Drip

Good Evening,

I have a drip from the handle of the larger sea cock under the settee on Port side.

It was found with the baby powder method.  I don't leave them open.  The other day I was cleaning, and did run some water down the galley sink.  It appears it drips a few hours after turnibg hamdle down.

I did put sewing machine oil on that area a yr ago, then found it was not the thing to do.

Question can this be solved with out a haul out? What do you suggest.?

I might add I found it a few days ago, I had about 2 cups of water where it slopes to centre of boat...held back with the lip of the 2 flip doors below.

Tell me what I can do. I will post a picture in the repair area of this group..

As always, Thank you...Lola F30

ok I have 2 photos with pointers.the left pointer is where i believe the water is getting in,  The right pointer shows it sliding down that area.

Thank you,

Lola F30

Regarding your Marlon seacock drip. Looks like the leak is around the stem of the valve. Check with the manufacturer of the SC to see if it's serviceable. If it is they should be able to instruct you. If it is serviceable you should be able to service without haul out. Good luck and happy holidays!

-Thanks Arthur, Good idea...I know who to call.

My F28 has a glue down vinyl tread protectors on the lower two mahogany steps and just varnish on the top step.
