This is my Garry Hoyt designed 28CK "Raven". I am almost 2 years into my restoration. It has the original wrap around sails and wishbones. I am new to sailing . I taught myself the last 2 years on a Dyer 7-11 sailing dinghy. Raven should be back on Narragansett Bay in May 2012 after 5 years on the hard. I can't wait to sail her.

Hi,

Question on my packing in Stuffing box

My SB is as tight as can. still leaks too much.

Mechanic says the key does not come out. He wants to slide the engine out to do so.

He will do in the slip.

Why does the key not come out.. Is there a secret? to get the key out? Seems strange that the engine has to be pulled to change the packing.

Those of you in the know, please advise.

Need help and advice.

Thank you, Lola F30

Maybe its time to change the sail lugs on the main, as Bob Weeks suggests,,,before I take the boat out for a few days...I have one broken, which was told no problem when I don't go too far.

"Sounds like its time for a rebuild on that pump. Unscrew the holding ring and check out the diaphragm. You can order from Defender or a bunch of different sites."

"Update: I checked my house bank batteries with a digital multimeter- battery 1 reads 13.3 volts, battery 2 reads 12.9. When I check the VDO it reads 10.7 for the main house bank. I turn on the charger and it runs for just a few minutes and turns off…"

Electrical problem- need help fast!

I am leaving in 5 days on a two week sailing trip to the San Juan Islands and have just started having electrical problems! I am having a hard time figuring out what is going on.Problem: When on shore power I turn on the battery charger and when looking at the main battery voltage indicator on the VDO display, it does not increase like it used to telling me that the battery is being charged. I thought maybe it was a problem with the charger, but the bow thruster battery, and the engine battery…See More
