Advice/Experience/Suggestions for Bareboat Charter in the San Juan Islands

We are looking into a sailing vacation in the San Juan Islands this summer, and I would really appreciate any and all feedback, information, pros & cons, experience you've had with the charter companies, sailing in the area, good anchorages, weather and temps in June vs. summer prime season, etc. .... anything ;)
Thanks.

Ladye, Spring and early summer in Puget Sound are dark, fairly cold due to the rains and dark. You'd think that June would bring summer, or at least spring, but it is one of the wetest months in the Seattle area. Locals much prefer August and Sepetember with my personal preference being September. Warmer, far less rain, prices are somewhat lower, anchorages are uncroweded and most people back to work or school with their kids.

Be sure to see:
Bainbridge Island
Deception Pass
Port Towsend... particularly the September Woodend Sail boat show
And, of course the San Juans.

Note that you are only about 25 miles to Vancouver British Columbia. You've got to see it! Bring a passport!! It's a must, particulary the island.

Be careful, you might not want to ever leave.

i live in washington and sail most weekends out around the islands. sping fall and winter has the best winds. but summer is warmer. Its not the water to swim in but the island are so wonderful. sucia is a very popular island. orcas has nice hot spings san jaun is also fun to visit but check for slip space in the harbors first. you can gunkhole almost anywere. If you want to know about a place let me know im here year round.

Our sailing club for singles (Bay Sailors in Tampa Bay, FL) is chartering there starting July 3. We might fill 3 boats and one of the people lived/sailed there for years. I would like to share info with you. I'm new to SeaKnots so don't know how this works yet.

"Michael, From experience over three keel boats a fully battened main is almost a requirement. Not only will it make dropping the sail into the boom bag far easier it certainly reduces any flogging and vastly lengthens the life of the sail. While…"
