Profile Information

Profile Type:
Sailor
Homeport:
San Diego
About Me:
I'm a longtime sailor, cruiser and former liveaboarder (17 years). I've cruised So. Calif./Channel Islands and the east coast, from Chesapeake to Florida. My first big boat was huge, a Waquiez 43 ft. ketch...too big, but a great liveaboarder. Next was a Baba 30, my main cruising boat, and a sweet one. Now I've just bought a 1979 Cal 3-34, and I'm getting to know it. My partner, Wanda, is relatively new to sailing and has never cruised.
Current location:
San Diego, California
Destinations visited:
None yet on the Cal
Looking to:
Coastal cruis So. Cal and the channel islands, then perhaps head south in the fall to Mexico.

"Auto ascending setup is an interesting idea, though it takes a bit of fiddling around to get it right. Once it's dialed in, it actually works quite well."

"Michael, From experience over three keel boats a fully battened main is almost a requirement. Not only will it make dropping the sail into the boom bag far easier it certainly reduces any flogging and vastly lengthens the life of the sail. While…"
