Hi

I have been told by Beneteau Australia that there is no wheel lock available.  I have to lash the wheel.

I have just noticed on CAN DRAS'S photo, it looks like a friction lock on his wheel??

See photo of my wheel with locating nut only and photo posted by CAN DRAC

or is it just a cover.  Did it come with anyones boat?

We have a 43, hull #001 and it has locks on both wheels. Not sure if they discontinued them but I would think you could get one from whoever manufactured the wheel if not Beneteau.
Thanks Mike for letting me know.

Mine is a late 2007 French Ben 40.
Does everyone have these. Are they standard on the French boats??

It could be mine were lost during delivery and they just told me they are not available to save having to replace them?????
That's correct. US wheels have it but now that we're in Europe I noticed it's missing on all French manufactured Beneteaus of this line that I've seen. I suppose in Australia you get boats made in Europe, not in the US.
Yes Mine is French Built.

Do you know who makes the centres of yours as I could not see a name on mine.

It may be different on the inside or may be all I have to do is purchase the knobs???

Does anyone have these on a French built boat?
They're made by "Goiot" perhaps you can get what you need from them.

Yep, my 43 is US built and have lock on starb side, port wheel has just a cover. Great majority of OC here are french built, and I realize dozens interesting points different. I think US Beneteau paid more attention to detail.
Greetings I have a 43 in NZ, French made without wheel locks and with only bare threaded end bolts which looks pretty bad. Count yourself lucky if you got covers. Last year I did a tour of the factory and raised this with the rep, all I got was the old Gaelic shrug and a smile. The tour was fun but what surprised me was that there was nowhere to buy a T shirt even. The BYC have since sent me chocolates for their 100 years and the agent here has given me plenty of shirts so I am clothed and fed but still looking for something in metric gauge to tidy up the wheel ends. Cheers Gavin
Consider yourself lucky enough to have your Bene with wheels, wich will be optional in 2011 ... eventually; considering recent cuts in manufacturing ...
