Well, we are in Grenada and have been here for a week. Yee Haw it is great to know that we don't have to go anywhere for a while. So, here I am ready, willing and able to get out on the
Owl a week ago for her maiden voyage...but which didn't happen due to schedule conflicts and all sorts of hurdles in the way!
First of all, hubby's work put him on-call for a weekend (and this never happens). So sailing was out. Poor guy. He had to endure my conniption fit...and it was a DOOZY!!!

Internet keeps kicking me off. So I am sitting at the bar of the Anchor's Away Cafe in North Myrtle Beach; alone but content to just daze over my chicken quesadilla. July came in quietly in the O town, just a lot of rain which is normal for us. Rain all summer helps us to be green and tropical at Christmas when Florida is the best place to be in the US. Just as it's the

This morning I was mad that I used good judgement and stayed on the ICW; but T-G I did not go outside. This afternoon I am having a pity party because the motor kept shutting off, the wind is howling at 25, I'm tied to a dock and not feeling very secure as the fenders keep popping off; I barely made it to this dock but it's on my lee side, so I'm having to sit with my feet pressing against the boat when the North Carolina power boaters seem to think going full throttle is some kind of fun.…

Havent been on seaknots much lately, finally been warm enough to get outside and enjoy life. We all know the cliche, it's not the place it is the people. So, it is that my plans to make Sandy Hook were changed when I learned (a) that my #1 sister, Jane and my #1 Sea Knots friend, Suki would meet me at Chesapeake City, (b) that my boss was able to hire my favorite couseling colleague to start the school year with me, and (c) that my husband really does worry about it. I am currently taking my Day Skipper theory, soon to be followed by the practical element too. I don't have much practical experience with sail, as we always had power when I was growing up. We're in the process of changing the lexan windows on our boat. Probably doesn't warrant a blog, but I feel the need to vent, since, like every other chore on a boat, this one's taking five times longer and is way harder than planned. Yea, I made it to St. Augustine on the ICW unscathed, relaxed and happy. There is internet at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina but I keep getting bumped off. One of the ways you know that the season has "arrived" in the O Town is that the weathermen sign off on the local radio stations with a status report as to whether there are any tropical storms around. Goody! It's been pretty calm out there according to their predictions.

Well, I just signed up for the next set of classes, ASA 105, 106. These deal with advanced coastal navagation and we will make a passage from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Bimini in the Bahamas. I will be doing these classes by myself, as my Dad said he has learned enough and I can show him anything else he needs to learn. I will admit, 4 courses with 4 exams in 5 days was almost too much.
