I, too, have a 1979 Cal 31. Information about them seems to be pretty scarce. I'm setting mine up for cruising the Caribbean in the next couple of years. I've got the Volvo Penta MD7A version. Any information you come across about the boat or motor would be helpful. So you think it's stout enough to take across the Pacific? While a trip like that isn't in my immediate plans, it's nice to know it's possible.
