SeaKnots

I have to admit I'm a novice at the use of mobile electronic devices. My cell phone doesn't even take pictures. But I just bought an amazon Kindle device and boy do I love it. No more carting a ton of books to the boat, only to have them read in a month leaving me with 5 months of catch as catch can reading. In the states, the books are delivered wirelessly using Sprint's Whispertel network or if you are not in the network area, like I am now and will be when on the boat, as long as you have internet access you can download the book to your computer and then transfer it to your Kindle. It only takes seconds to do it so you could sit at a wifi cafe or bar and download several books in less time than it takes to drink a beer or rum thingie. I won't go in to all the advantages and disadvantages but you can check it out on my blog or go to Amazon.

I downloaded my first my first ebook the other day. Sail Ready by Rod Cambell-Ross
It's another cruisers guide to boat/fitting/and other know how. Im liking the ebook concept thus far as I can toggle from emails (or seaknots.com) readily AND I can zoom in where I dont need my glasses. YEEEHAAAW! So when I find more time to give the thought of sailing more than 2% of my effort, I'll download more...

"Auto ascending setup is an interesting idea, though it takes a bit of fiddling around to get it right. Once it's dialed in, it actually works quite well."

"Michael, From experience over three keel boats a fully battened main is almost a requirement. Not only will it make dropping the sail into the boom bag far easier it certainly reduces any flogging and vastly lengthens the life of the sail. While…"
