SeaKnots

Hello I am new to this forum and would like to ask a few things

We would like to add a staysail/inner jib and storm jib to our wardrobe as we go on a Iong passage.
Our Owner Manuals (especially our French 21-pager) don't provide much info on that, so I hope to find some good info here from other BO owners.

What I am looking for:

1- I am looking for measurements for a staysail/innerjib and stormjib for our BO40

2- Running rigging set-up for these sails.
We can add an inner stay to a deckplate which is already there just aft of the anchor locker. Don't think we would go furling yet, probably a deckbag with the sail.

Has anyone fitted their BO40 with those sails, what size did they settle and how was it rigged.

Some sailmaker mentioned also that it's possible to have a reef-able inner jib which can be reduced to a storm jib. Anyone experience with those?

Any feedback, suggestions, experiences much appreciated.

Thanks heaps.

I asked the same thing to my BO40 2007 from Beneteau 3 yrs ago. They offered a stainless steel flatbar with eyelet (hole) to be installed through the deck to front cabin's front bulkhead. I don't like to have this kind of solid eyelets on the deck so I rejected the idea. I try to find a solution with a D-ring fitted in the same place. Two of the 3 fitting bolts will be inside the front cabin, so it means that I have to make holes also in the ceiling and install a stainless steel fitting in the bulkhead. Still in the process because I don't know if there are some electrical cables behind the ceiling. For the storm jib one can use one of the spinnaker hoist ropes.

I think that the sail makers can propose you a suitable cut.

For light winds I have a 95 sqm gennaker in a sock with tack through a sheave fitted to anchor bracket. Works well and relatively easy to deal with even single handed.

Hi Simo,

thanks for your reply and all your info.

We do already have the flatbar you describe, it came with the boat (we are 2nd owners).
