Greetings Bene 40/43 owners. I am considering adding a prop line cutter and do not have immediate plans to have the boat out of the water for the install. Does anyone have experience with units that can be installed with the boat still in the water?
FYI, I did have our diver measure the prop shaft and it is 30mm with 1 inch of exposed shaft to work with.

Hi Peter,
Prop Protector has a two piece cutter which you can install in water. I installed a single piece prop protector when the boat was in hard, of course taking the prop out first. Difference between two types other than the installation or removing comfort is two piece type being slightly thicker that you must consider the clearence in front of the cutter to allow sufficient water circulation for the shaft. (My boat is a B43 with the stock fixed 3 blade prop.) You can find all specs through below link.

The PropProtector is a good idea considering its only 280.61$ from prop-protector-usa.com with a 10$ set of screws and clamps for the clamp on model.
Defender has a Shaft Shark for 348$ on sale right now.
It seems as though the teeth on the shaft shark will work better than the straight blade model found in PropProtector.
The crab bouys are a main problem here in the Chesapeake, but cut a watermans buoy and they chase you with a rusty shotgun! I got hung up in 6 traps last year, and finally decided to do the stupid thing, start the engine. I was lucky, but that type of luck only happens once.
Anyone else know where I can get one cheaper?
Although the teeth on the serrated shaft cutters look tough, it has been shown in tests that they can "snag" on the fibers of the rope and actually pull it into the prop vs cutting right through as the razor sharp edged cutter (Prop Protector) does. US distributor: www.prop-protector-usa.com
