Being a teacher in the summer is good. You have a lot of time off from work :)

Not knowing where you were heading I could not tell you would have missed the island. Wasn't the island where it was suppossed to be on the chart? Are other objects on the chart where they belong? If not you may not have your chart "Datum" set correctly. The "Datum" is the reference point the chart maker uses when they draw the chart. You have to set the chart plotter to match the "Datum" or islands, buoys, etc will not be where you think they are.
The Datum is correct :-( and we are always running head-up o the plotter and radar.
I did also some resets and new calibrations but without any bether results ...

Not only the islands where incorrect, also many parts of Italy where wrong (but not everything!!!!!) and I had the impression that the problem became worser and worser.
When we was running home, I had to refere myself on the radar, otherwiese we would not find our Homeport ( by night). When we left, I did not noticed this problem ...
Hmmm that's not good. I wonder if the chip you have is bad?
You mean the intern chip?
The plotter also do this without the NAVIONICS

I'' keep you up to date when the Raymarine service is comming on the first week of November :-)
Today I recived an E-mail from my privat service man
After 2 weecks our boat corroding!
Before we left our boat, we cleaned the Boat with sweet water and dryed it.

Hello,

A lot of this will simply go away after passivation with phosphoric acid paste like wichard paste that is delivered with the boat. The oxydation of the spreaders needs passivation and protection. You should avoid plastic or tape that leads to stagnation.

Try the paste you will be surprised of the result and the lasting effect.

And the problems goes on ...

those are pictures from the left side of my moat ( view from behind !)

Hello,

On our 43 (hull 77 french built) there is none of these cracks in the gelcoat. I understand they come from high loads that are not spreded on a large surface by backplates and bolts and screws to tight.
When we installed our arch with davits we put inside the hull very large backplates to spred the extra load.
To have it on flat non stressed surfaces could be demoulding to quicly before the stratification was completely cured ?

The little rust points on the gelcoat come from workers not cleaning up after drilling à hole in something metallic.

What did Beneteau say about this.

I still hope you are enjoying this great family cruiser.

Denis
Hi Denis
Of course I am still enjoying my Antares :-)

Today I had a meal with my dealer and an official Belgian Beneteau Expert

My boat was build in the factory where the most of the workers loosed their Job by Beneteau

They even thought about changing the Boat, but Beneteau want to fix every thing on the Boat ... no change possible. So we decided to rebuild the 40 like no other one the market :-)

The funnest thing was that we meet an other client of my dealer in the restaurant that have also some Gelcoat problems on his 43 :-)

All those boats come from the same factory. They have even some bigger problems on the Lagoon Cata`s ... also constructed in the same factory

No my technician has to make an offer of how many hours and what additional tools he need to put the original Gel-coat on. ( By the way, my technician is applying for becoming an official Beneteau technician )

I will suggest them to reinforce the bases by this way ... thanks for the idea :-)

Concerning the rust, the expert agree that this is common on Beneteau.
We are going to put some thing on that I will recive from my college ( Metal teacher/professor )
and polish it with a tool that I will also get from him. He told me that all the other things are crap ...

I`ll keep you informed
Alain
Hello,

I will be sailing next weeek in the west med coast of spain.

Could you send me some pictures of the Paguro generator installed in Antares since I have an appointment with the boat yard that will install the generator. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If it is easier for you here is my email : deniswfoster@gmail.com

Thank you I hope you are having some good time. Will you come to the paris boat show in december ?

Denis
Hi
I have a French built beneteau 40 with some cracking in deck.

Regarding corrosion, it appears the seacocks are stainless and skin fittings bronze (I think?).
Is this the case and if so that a corrosion problem.

David
you mentioned that you also have some cracks in your boat ...

what did you do against those cracks ?
